Nancy G - Long red/black blazer with pleated details:  $5.99

Vintage Japanese ceramic boot planter w/baby and rabbit:  $1.99

Both @ Value Village

These were both regular price, but they were surprisingly reasonable.  I already have so many red/black blazers, but this one was so long it seemed different enough to buy.

The ceramic...I just can't say no to vintage Japanese kitsch!

Monster High - Ghoulia fashion closet:  $4.49 (RSP:  $15)
Monster High - Frankie's fashion closet:  $4.49 (RSP:  $15)
Monster High - Draculaura fashion pack:  $2.99 (RSP:  $9.99)
Monster High - Spectra Party Lounge playset:  $13.49 (RSP:  $45)
Monster High - Cleo Oasis playset:  $14.24 (RSP:  $47)

All @ Target

I was so surprised to find all of these.  Of course I was hoping, especially after I already got that Spectra playset for $22.

This location was in the busiest mall around, so I expected it to be the most picked over -- not the case!  They still had a ton of stuff left, but no single dolls.

Still, no other place has had every fashion pack!  I passed on Operetta and Robecca since I don't like them that much.

I didn't think I'd buy the Cleo playset, since I thought the doll was kind of ugly for some reason.  This one probably had around 10, and all but 2 were really wonky!

I found one perfect one that was beautiful, so I guess the other ones I had seen before all had horrible face paint.  The proportions were all wrong, it really ruined her appeal.

Even the second decent one was a bit odd.  Her eyes were way bigger than normal, but I bought the narrow eyed one because it seemed more "her."

I was unsure about the Draculaura pack, since it didn't really seem as good a deal compared to the other ones.  Plus, the outfit wasn't that great, especially the dress.

I might return it.  We'll see!

Monster High - Frankie Stein's vanity:  $7.49 @ Target (RSP:  $25)

I normally don't buy these things, but I can't help it when it's Frankie.  She's got such neat accessories, and I've already got her bed....she needs a vanity too!

Besides, I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest I'll ever find it.  Even if I found one secondhand, it would probably be missing all of the small parts.

I would have liked to find Lagoona's shower too.  Well, there are still some more to visit, so maybe I'll get lucky!

Plastic gold winged lion clock:  $3.99 @ Value Village

I've seen these clocks before, but I was never tempted to buy them until now.  They always have fancy animals like unicorns or peacocks, but I'm sure I've never seen a lion one before.  They're like my kryptonite!

Plus, after finding that last plastic gold clock, I've had the idea to use them as shadow boxes.  The price was reasonable enough, so I thought, why not.

My family actually has a peacock clock like this, but I've always found it tacky for some reason.  Not this one!

Shiny bucket purse w/gold metal leopard:  $12.99 @ Value Village

As soon as I saw this, I knew I had to have it!  I've never seen anything like this before.  I can't even find any similar examples on the internet!

Burberry has some similar styled bags (as in, metal figures on purses), but there's no way I'm spending that much.

I hardly wanted to spend that much on this bag, but I'd probably never find it again if I didn't pick it up this time.

No maker...too bad.  I wish I could see more from this company!

Another thing I like about this bag is that it's super structured, and it's wide enough at the bottom for my water bottle.  I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of this!

Lil Bratz - Backstage bash playset:  $6.75 @ Shared thrift store

They happen to have a lot of new in box toys here for some reason.  It's funny that I found this one, since I was remembering the ones I used to have a decade ago!

I gave them away when I moved and started regretting it.  Well, I never had this exact one, but I'm happy to have it.  Even though I've always found bratz dolls ugly, they came out with a lot of neat playsets.

The price seemed a bit much for what it was, but retail was probably around $20.  Plus...it's a decade old!  It's not likely that I'll find it again, especially in new in box condition.

I just really liked the furniture, especially the diner sphere.  I just hope I find a new in box mall for a decent price...I regret giving it away now!

Martino - Black leather boots:  $20 (RSP:  $40 - $200)
Jessica - "Benita" brown leather boots:  $10 (RSP:  $20 - $160)

Both @ Sears Outlet

Funnily enough, this was right by the pickup location so I decided to take a look.

I was actually looking for more pigs since they had them on their website...they didn't have any toys at all at that location, but they had something better!

I've been on the lookout for cheap flat leather boots for a while.  I was starting to think it wasn't going to happen!  I was even willing to pay up to $50 but I still couldn't find any at that price.

When I saw them for this cheap, I was shocked.  And happy!  They were even half off the lowest price which made them even better.

I found a picture of the black ones on amazon.  They're exactly the same exact the sole has a different pattern:

The regular retail is listed at $190 there, but I've seen that brand priced up to $250 in Canada.

They're also winter lined...both of them have reflective barriers and all of that jazz.  I don't think they look too thick though, I'm sure I could wear them year round.

They only had one of each of these ones, none of the other ones were quite so cheap.  The rest were $25+, which I probably would have paid anyway.

The only problem is...since they're waterproof and winter proofed, the leather doesn't feel luxurious.  That's what I would have preferred, but for the price, I can't complain!

It feels heavy duty.  It feels like it might not even be leather until you smell it!

Teacup Piggies - Jade and Ivory:  $7 for both

I found them on craigslist.  They ended up being in worse condition than expected...the seller said they were in excellent condition and rated them a 9/10.  Well, they both have weird red stains, so I would have rated them around a 6!

I'm annoyed, but the price was still decent considering.  These were older releases so I didn't think I could get them otherwise.

I really had to go out of my way to pick them up, so I decided to make it a day of shopping.  That turned out pretty well!

It's just stupid that Ivory is exactly the same as Holly!  I really don't understand the point of giving them distinct names when the colours aren't.

Mini Lalaloopsy - Crumbs' tea party:  $2.99 @ Salvation Army (RSP:  $14.99+)

I really like the idea of lalaloopsy, but the doll is just too playline for me.  The regular price is also way too expensive to be appealing to me.

I've seen a few secondhand before, but I was never tempted to pick them up.  They're just so big, hard, and heavy!  I don't even think I would have wanted one as a child.

The littles are a different story. They're adorable!  I've never seen any secondhand, but if I did, I'd pick them up.  I'd also pick up any that were on sale for $10 or under, but that hasn't happened yet.

Anyhow, I normally love minis, but I was never tempted by these either.  I just don't care for the look of them.

I did however see this playset on flickr before...and I thought the furniture was wonderful!  I never saw it in stores here, or else I would have been really tempted.

I would have paid more than $3 for the furniture.  The doll I don't really care for, but it's a nice addition.  I do love how her appendages move around when you shake her though!

T shirts - Billy Talent winged phone booth
               Captain Science comic cover
Donkey Kong "Started from the bottom"
               Skull light bulb
Nintendo controller "Let us never forget"

$1.50 each @ Bluenotes (RSP:  $3.50 - $10 each)

UK2LA - Shiny black combat boots
UK2LA - Matte black combat boots
UK2LA - Brown over the knee boots

$5 each (RSP:  $15 - $30 each)

All @ Bluenotes

Bluenotes is really surprising me these days!  I never thought they'd be so cheap.  This was even cheaper than last weekend!

I'm also surprised that they restocked everything.  I mean, they had completely different stock.  They had so many shoes out!  I thought they were all sold out, last time they only had 3 pairs out...none this style.

I really only went out to check out toys at Target - I wasn't going to go here!  For some reason I did, and I'm sure glad I did.

It was totally packed, and for good reason!  All of the tees at the bottom were for my brother.  I really wish I sized up for my tees, but I thought they looked big enough.

I was most interested in that comic book tee.  Turns out it's a real comic book from the 50's!  In the public domain, which is probably why it ended up there.  One of his catchphrases is "By space this will not stand!," which totally cracks me up.

It was so crazy, everything I put back was gone right after I hung it onto the rack!

I kind of want to go back on the weekend.  I wonder if they'll have more stuff out?

I'm kind of stocked up on flat boots (yay!), but I'd totally be open to more.  Especially black over the knee boots in that style!

They're so flattering, and shockingly, they fit me!  The other ones are also really comfortable because they're wide.

There was actually another combat boot I was eyeing.  It was a way better brand and had a heavier sole that was a sandy colour.  The upper was black too.

It was heavier and better quality in general, but it just looked kind of ugly.  It was really huge and unsightly!  This one was more streamlined, so that clinched it.

Someone actually almost took those shiny black ones before me, but thankfully they decided to put it back.  I saw it first, but I didn't feel like carrying it around.  I was going to double back for it, but I'll never do that again!

Monster High - Scaris Draculaura (RSP:  $4.49 - $19.99)
Monster High - Mad Science Ghoulia and Cleo (RSP:  $11.99 - $39.99)
Monster High - Ghouls Alive Frankie Stein (RSP:  $8.99 - $29.99)
Monster High - Scaris Jinafire Long (RSP:  $8.99 - $29.99)

All free @ Target!

How did I ever live without Target??  I remember going to the states once and being very impressed with their toy pricing.  I'm so glad they finally made it over here, and that the sales are just as good!  I was waiting for things to go to 70% off and they finally did.

Everything was free because I had a $40 voucher from Mattel.  The total including tax was around $38.50, so I forfeited $1.50.

I actually bought another lab partner set at first, but decided I didn't want to pay $10 extra.  I really didn't want triplicates, even though it would have been worth it!

I already have the one I bought off of amazon (really wish I didn't buy that one now!).  I didn't know there were so many differences in the packaging.  I think the american one looks better.  There are more details.

I ended up opening the american one, but I put the canadian one in the american packaging because I liked it better.

Plus, the Ghoulia I bought today had such huge lips!  I liked the Cleo slightly better, but I didn't want to switch the dolls.

I probably would have only bought the Jinafire and the Draculaura if I didn't have the voucher.  I just bought the others (even though I already had them) to use it up.  It expires soon and I didn't really feel like looking around.

I do want to check out the other targets, but there are no guarantees that they'll have any either.  But hopefully I'll be surprised!

I don't really like that Draculaura, but for the price, I couldn't say no!  I don't have her already.  If she was marked as being on clearance, I doubt she would have been there.  I'm really hoping I find a Ghoulia too, I would have paid half price for her!

I'm really happy about the thick chain necklace.  I'm hoping to win more like that in the future!  A gold one would be nice.

I thought the elephant necklace might be a bit tacky....and maybe it is, but I love it!  I just things elephants are so adorable.  I thought the necklace was cute and quirky so I had to have it.

Bag of dolls:  $1.99 @ Value Village

I bought this for the Littlest pet shop Blythe of course.  I was initially going to keep the Britney Spears doll's clothing, but it turns out her torso is really beautifully sculpted.  I haven't seen that on a six inch doll before!  I'm going to keep it in case I need something else.

Something I found funny.....as immodest as that outfit is, she has double underwear on!  One painted, one connected to the skirt.

That Madame Alexander doll is something else I've wanted, but I was waiting until it was with something else I really wanted.  That time has come!

The blythe is from the "Styling Safari" set:

This is my first one that I've found with her shoes on!  I'm glad about that, but I kind of wish she had her hat too.

I also wish that all of them came with their stands!  That would have been really nifty.

The lowest price I ever saw them new was $7....which would equal to 3-4 of the ones I've been buying.  A 1:4 ratio is a total no-brainer.  I'm just hoping I find them more regularly!  It's been a lot lately, so I hope that trend continues.

Funnily enough, all of them have come from the same location!  I don't think they're all from the same person, otherwise I would have found them at the same time.  They probably would have been in the same bag!

I actually found this on the same day Talize had a sale, but I forgot to post it up until now.

White ribbed dress:  $5 @ Sirens (RSP:  $17)

I thought this dress looked big enough, so I bought it without trying it.  Well...that was a mistake - it fits like an extra small!  That really surprised me.  It looked like it was wide enough.

Thank goodness I didn't buy any of the other ones.  I'm going to have to lose some weight before I wear this out in public!

It is really flattering.  It comes down to mid calf and it's actually pretty warm.  Most of the other ones were medium, so I'm really glad I didn't buy those ones instead.  That size had more colours, so I was tempted.

Teacup Piggies - Weekend spa set w/Princess:  $6.90 (!)(RSP:  $14.99)
Teacup Piggies - Mommy and Piglets set (white):  $14.99 (RSP:  $29.99)
Teacup Piggies - Basic Ollie:  $9.98 (RSP:  $17.99)
Teacup Piggies - Mommy and Piglets set (beige):  $14.99 (RSP:  $29.99)
Teacup Piggies - Basic Holly:  $9.98 (RSP:  $17.99)

All @ Toys r us

This one even had the first two I bought!  But I'm glad I got the other ones when I did, otherwise I would have been overwhelmed today.  It was way too much to carry!

I'm really happy they had the piglet sets though.  I was thinking about ordering it online, but I'm glad I didn't.

They also had a purple set, but I already bought too much and I wasn't fond of the colour.  I prefer natural coloured pigs.

I also passed up a purple coloured Zoe (the mom set would have been a better deal anyway), a pig named Crystal (had purple splotches that looked ugly), and the separate piglets, which were $5 each.  They work out to $2.50 each in the sets!

Granted, the single piglets had more interesting colouring, but I really don't think they're worth $5.  For $5 more, I'd rather have a full sized one!  Those are more worth it, even though the small ones speak too.

I was surprised about that Ollie.  The colouring was completely different from the first one I bought!  I think they should have named her something else in that case, especially since all of the phrases are the same as the other one.

Even worse, the teacups are exactly the same!  I'd rather not have a duplicate, especially since the pig looks like a completely different one.

Anyway, two more places to check out!  Let's see if they have any of the other colours I want.  I really want the grey, black, and caramel coloured ones!

I'm happiest about the spa set.  What a great price...even cheaper than the basic pigs, and it comes with a musical playset!  I think $15 was their last clearance price, the set had to be around $30!

The pig on the box is also a completely different one.  It's a blue one, but I'm glad it came with a natural pink looking pig instead.

Sequined peplum top (RSP:  $17.50)
Checkered green peplum dress (RSP:  $20)

Both $5 each @ Sirens

I didn't print out the coupon, so I didn't want to buy too many.  Otherwise, there were other shiny peplum tops I was sort of interested in.  Plus...I'm trying to buy less mall brands.

These two were worth it though!  I don't have anything like either of them, and I really like the styles.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Bluenotes - Jessica jeans (RSP:  $10 - $29.50)
UK2LA - Caramel brown studded flat boots (RSP:  $10 - $40)

$5 each @ Bluenotes

I didn't know it, but this mall was having a sidewalk sale...I'm glad I came!  I needed both of these things.  I thought the boots were $10, but I was surprised and happy that they scanned in at half that.  What a great deal!

Pink elephant wind up toy:  $1 @ Dollarama

I don't normally like unbranded dollar store toys, but I'm a sucker for pink elephants.  A lot of them look cheap and ugly, but I thought this one was quite charming.  It looks like it could have been vintage.

I also like the packaging!  It's a clear cracked egg that also doubles as a piggy bank (it has a slit at the top).

It's one of those swimming wind ups, which I didn't  have before then.  All in all, totally worth my dollar!

Teacup Piggies - Ollie and Zoe:  $9.98 each  Toys r us (RSP:  $17.99 each)

I just found out about these adorable guys randomly...they were so adorable, I had to get them!

They remind me of Sylvanian Families figures...they're flocked and they have black bead eyes too.  I love how these ones are realistic, and the idea of them coming in tea cups is just the cutest thing ever!

They actually came out in 2010.  I'm surprised they're still in stores!

Actually, I've only found them at Toys r us...and in the clearance section of course.  I'm just grateful that they're still here, they would have been so expensive if I had to buy them online.

I just wish they had pigs with more realistic colouring.  They do, but this store didn't have them.  Now I'm on a quest to get more!

I think $10 each is reasonable for them, but it's kind of annoying...the regular retail price is $13 in the US!  Actually, the regular price at target was $9.99!  Not a great deal in comparison.  I saw some people get them clearanced for $5 each, which would have been awesome.

King - Vintage 3D gold frame clock w/roses:  $3.99 @ Value Village

This thing is huge!  I was unsure about it, but I really liked the big frame around it.  Of course, I'm not going to use it as a clock...I'm going to use it as a shadow box!  It's going to be gorgeous.

Bag of dolls:  $1.99 @ Value Village

Found them the same day I bought the Moschino blazer.  I only really wanted the Littlest pet shop Blythe, but I'm also going to keep the lil bratz clothes and the Madame Alexander doll.  She's kind of cute when she's dressed like that...it totally hides her crappy body.

That jointed Kelly body too...I didn't know they ever came jointed!  It's too bad the arms aren't articulated too.  I'll just save it in case I need it in the future.

Turns out the Blythe is from the "Fashion and Treats Boutique" set:

It retailed for $30, so there were probably less than these sold.  I don't like any of the pets or clothing, so I'm happy I got her at this price.  I just wish she came with her shoes!

Moschino Cheap and Chic - Velvet cat blazer:  $7.99 @ Value Village

I don't know why I bought this.  Ok, this was the detail that sold me:

There are even cats at the back!

These ones!

Then on the buttons!

It's in bad shape though.  It was washed improperly and now it's completely wrinkled and misshapened.  I don't know if it can look any better than this.

Plus, one button is missing, and it's not even my size!

I just thought it was so unique and quirky.  Though...I probably wouldn't have bought it if it weren't for the brand.  Their blazers retail for over a grand, I just had to!  You don't find something like this every day.

I just wish it wasn't full price!  If it was on half off day, I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Gilmour - Brown dress (RP:  $8.99)
Genetamant - Ruched crochet neckline blouse (RP:  $6.99)
Simply Irresistible - NWT Grey top w/beaded detailing (RP:  $6.99 - $14.99 - $30)

$2 each @ Salvation Army.

This one was pretty disappointing, but I'm still glad I went.  The stuff above was decent.  Nothing exciting, but things I could wear everyday.

I almost didn't buy the beaded one...it didn't look very exciting on the rack, but it's gorgeous on!  It comes to a V shape at the front and back.  I don't have any tops like that!  It still has the winners tags on it.

This store just opened up recently, and I think they were still selling items from before the move -- all of the tags are from September!

Novi stars:  Ari Roma x 2, Mae Talik, Una Verse:  $5 each @ Walmart.ca

That includes free shipping!  I'm so glad I didn't buy them when they were $10....I was almost going to, but luckily I decided to check walmart first.

It was actually $10 only a week ago, so I really wasn't expecting it to go down even more this week!

I bought double what I would have though, which might not have been a good idea...but I just love these guys!  I don't think they'll be this cheap again.

I just wish they had Alie in stock.  She's the only one out of the first four that I don't have!  She just had to be the only one out of stock.

Even if I do find them secondhand, it'll likely be $2 for a nude doll.  $5 for a complete doll with stand and pet seems like a better deal!

Though I probably will still pick them up if I do see them secondhand!

Interesting note...Mae speaks english and french!  That totally took me by surprise, considering the first one I picked up only spoke english.

Actually, I've never seen a bilingual toy here, ever!  Good for MGA, I guess.  It is a little distracting though, since the randomly talk in english or french.  It would have been better if they had a different setting for each language, but I guess that's too much extra hardware required.

Though...if thy didn't want to do more work, they didn't need to make her bilingual in the first place!

Andrea Isabella - Nautical blazer w/leather accents:  $9.99

Gold cherub picture frame:  $1.99
Ceramic cat stand/table:  $4.99

All @ Value Village

And this was at the expensive one!  I was so surprised that everything was reasonably priced. Especially the cat...ceramic things that size are usually at least $10.  When I saw that it was only $5, I had to pick it up!

It's pretty big (around 16 X 12 inches), and it also functions as a stand!  I might have paid $10, but I'm just glad I didn't have to.  I think I might paint it another colour, the face paint isn't that nice.

I wasn't sure about the cherub frame, but looking at this picture, I'm glad I bought it.  It isn't as nice in person though!  The sculpting is kind of ugly on the cherubs.

For the price though, I won't complain too much.  I'll just hold on to this until I find a brass frame in this style...if that ever happens.

The blazer was awesome!  Probably the coolest nautical themed blazer I've ever seen.  I guess it is kind of tacky too, but I love it!

All of the white elements are made of leather.  I've never seen that before on a blazer!  It also looks completely new.  Considering all of that, $10 was a great price!

*edit*

So two years later, I found out that you can actually still buy this cat unfired for $26.50!  It looks so different painted up:

Jones New York - Light fuchsia silk dress (RP:  $14.99)(22 days)
Purple silk skirt (RP:  $5.99)(14 days)
MSilhouette - Blazer w/floral trims (RP:  $9.99)(11 days)

P.C.F. Petites styled by Hal Ferman - Light blue button up dress (RP:  $6.99)(17 days)
D'Allairds - Houndstooth dress (RP:  $6.99)(31 days!)
Cynthia Howie for Maggy Boutique - Pink button up dress w/crochet collar (RP:  $8.99)(10 days)

$2 each @ Salvation Army

They were having a $2 sale, so I felt like going.  This is the first time they've included dresses, which is what I like buying the most.  Sadly, I was half an hour late...I wonder what I missed out on.  One lady had a whole cart full of dresses!

The first one I picked up was the Jones new york dress.  I wasn't sure about it, but it looked so good on!  The colour kind of turned me off at first, but I think it works.

I wasn't sure about the blazer either, but the floral trim won me over.  It's even on the pockets!  I haven't seen that style before.

The skirt was a definite want.  The hemline is gorgeous!  It comes to a point at the middle and flows in such a wonderful way.  The tag was cut out, so I don't know who made it.  I looked up the numbers, and it was either made by nine west or jones new york.

All of the ones in the second picture are vintage, the houndstooth one is my favourite!  I thought the first one was modern because I still see the same style around, but the tag is definitely vintage.

I just wish I went to more!  I'm going to another one tomorrow, but that's the only one that still has the sale going on because it's a grand opening sale.  Finally!  I haven't had one in my own city for over a year.
