Long white rose print halter dress:  $13.70 @ eBay (RSP:  $20+)
Long grey ruched sleeveless dress:  $12.98 @ aliexpress (RSP:  $20+)

I've wanted both of these dresses for a long time, and they arrived at the same time!

I went through a mini ordeal getting the white one.  I tried buying it two times off aliexpress - the first time the seller said it was out of stock, the second time it never arrived!

Even though they were cheaper on aliexrpess (as low as $11), I was tired of  trying my luck on there.  I waited a month for the second one!  I was tired of all of the uncertainty so I ended up just buying it on eBay, even though it's more there.  It's also now too cold to wear it, which totally sucks.

At least I can wear the other one anytime!  Even though the idea is simple, the way it flows makes it look so elegant!  I've seen it for $20+ elsewhere, so I was really happy to snatch it up at this price.

They also have a coral one, but I'll wait until it's on sale again before buying it.

Frosted glass bird candle holders:  $1 each @ MCC Thrift Store

I do need candlestick holders, and I'm a sucker for birds.  I thought these were quite pretty and I've seen similar ones go for $10 each!

Microwave chip maker set:  $3.58 @ Buyincoins (RSP:  $5+)

This ended up being great, except the blade is useless!  I think it was put in backwards.  Thankfully I had a mandolin so I could still use the set.

It only makes about 30 chips, but that's surprisingly filling.  Even more surprising..the chips actually taste good!  With or without oil, though I prefer the oil.

I saw a slightly bigger chip tray for $2.55, but I thought this was a better value because it came with a bunch more for only a buck more.  I didn't really need the bowl or the blade, but I did need the hand guard...plus it all looks great together.

I just noticed it's now a dollar more, so I'm glad I bought it when I did.

I guess I should complain about the blade.  I wonder if they'll do something about it?

I ended up buying one of the bigger trays since you can put a bunch in there at the same time.

Monster High - 13 wishes Lagoona - $14.97 @ Toys r us (RSP:  $34.99)

These dolls practically just came out, so I was really surprised that Superstore had them on sale for only $14.97!  At that time I only bought the roller maze dolls and the novi star in my last post, since they only had really messed up Lagoonas left.

I went to Toys r us to see if they had a better selection, and they did!  Around 30 of them.  It was so hard to choose!

I ended up getting this girl because her eyes were huge compared to the other ones, plus her paint was so heavy.  The other ones seemed boring in comparison!

I wanted a Howleen, but neither of them had it.  Then I saw that the crappy superstore did, so I really wish I went there during the sale.

Monster High - Roller Maze Abbey:  $5.94 (RSP:  $19.99)
Monster High - Roller Maze Clawdeen:  $5.94 (RSP:  $19.99)
Novi Stars - Tula Toned:  $1.94 (!) (RSP:  $22.99)

All @ Superstore

I love Superstore!  This one anyway.  I went to the other one and everything was still regular price!

I'm so glad I checked the novi star...I didn't expect her to be this low, but I was wondering if she was wrongly put in the clearance section.

I saw an una the last time I went, but I didn't bother to check it.  Now I wish I had, especially if that one was $1.94 too!  But at least I have this one, even though she's a double.  Who can say no to a Novi Star under two bucks?

I'm also glad I didn't pick up that Operetta last time.  I was so surprised to see these girls, and in the regular section to boot!  It looked like they had opened at least 4 cases, so I was surprised they were still on clearance.  Now I have the entire set for crazy cheap.  Hooray!

Spenco Polysorb flow insoles:  $3 @ Dollarama (RSP:  $35!)
Leopard high heel inserts:  $1.25 @ Dollar Tree

I almost didn't pick up the insoles...they didn't feel very soft or expensive when I inspected them.  When I looked them up online, I was surprised they retailed for so much!

They're supposed to warm up your feet.  I tried them on and they do work, and they're even comfortable despite being hard to the touch.

The leopard ones totally weren't worth it though.  They don't even fit me, and they don't makes my heels any more comfortable!  I wish I didn't buy them.

Monster High - Music Festival Venus doll:  $10 @ Walmart.ca (RSP:  $20+)

This totally surprised me.  My first order only took about a week to arrive, but this one took 27 days!  It took them 22 days to send it out...that's pretty unacceptable for any company, let alone a big one like them!

I actually made the complaint on the 22nd day...I wonder if I'd still be waiting for them to send it out if I didn't contact them..

Of course, this one came damaged too.  When are they going to stop sending things unprotected in plastic bags???

I sent a complaint.  Come on, the wait, and the damage?  This is definitely the worst service I've ever had from an online retailer.

Cherub alabaster box:  $4.99
1970's Sindy doll:  $3.99

Both @ Value Village

...and both more than I wanted to pay!  I've paid $5 total for the other two alabaster boxes I have, but I'm a sucker for cherubs.  I've never seen one like this anywhere, so I thought it was somewhat worth it.  I'd probably never have another chance to buy it again.

Same with the Sindy!  I'd never see that particular one again, and I didn't want to regret it.  I do have 3 other ones, but this one's older and more charming than the others.

I think I paid the same price for the others, but at least this one had clothing.  And it's mod!  Still, I would have preferred to pay $2.

It was the first one I've seen in over 5 years though, so it felt like a mistake to leave it behind!  They definitely aren't too common.

I do remember seeing two of them about a year or two ago, but they were nude and $4 each so I didn't think they were worth it.  They also might have been on the unarticulated bodies, I can't remember.

I also saw some mod 70's barbies there today, but those ones definitely weren't worth $4 each.  The earlier mod ones would have, but not the ones from the later decade with pinched faces.

Pink fleece robe
Kiwi - Comfort gel insoles (RSP:  $12.99)

$3 each @ Dollarama

Finally!  I've been looking for a pink robe ever since I bought the grey one.  That's the colour I preferred, but I didn't buy it because I thought it would get dirty too easily.

Well...the grey one is just so drab!  I decided to get the pink one so I could double them up, plus the colour improves my mood a little.

The gel insoles were an impulse buy.  I've never seen them at any of the other stores, and I'm always looking for good insoles.  Let's see if they were worth the $3.

I bought similar ones for $1.50 a while back, but I don't think the gel was as soft.  Still, they were half the price, which is why I was a bit hesitant about this one.

Greenbrier international/DTSC Imports - Wind up monkey
Greenbrier international/DTSC Imports - Wind up elephant

$1.25 each @ Dollar Giant

I'm trying to stop buying such useless things, but I just can't help myself sometimes!  I've always been fond of wind up toys and other automatons.  When they're this cheap, why not?

The elephant was the first one I saw.  It was just placed randomly somewhere, but that one was really flawed so I didn't want to get it.  Thankfully, I found a jar of them at some other random spot (not with the toys).

That's where I found the monkey!  I don't normally like them so cute, but this guy had a lot going on.  He drums, walks, and moves his head side to side!

But the elephant is more impressive.  It's got 7 points of motion - trunk, ears, legs, and tail!  It's way more articulated than the average walking toy, and I like how the design is somewhat realistic.  It definitely doesn't look as cheap as most of the other ones do.

Cabi jeans (RSP:  )
Preferred Fragrances - Betsey Johnson Too Too knockoff perfume (RSP:  $13)

$3 each @ Dollarama

I don't have any jeans that fit me, so I thought I'd take a chance on these.  Well, they ended up fitting pretty horribly!  I'm going to need to make major alterations before they'll be wearable, but I can't complain too much for the price.

I bought the perfume because I liked the bottle.  I'm surprised they put so much effort into everything!  Some of the packaging and bottle designs are as good as more expensive perfumes, so I'm surprised they're able to sell them so cheaply...even considering the cheap ingredients.

It  has one good review here, and that brand actually has a lot of good reviews for their other products.

But I don't see it.  I've never smelled any dollar store fragrance that didn't smell cheap and crappy.  Maybe some of them are equal to cheap body sprays, but the ones I've smelled have been even worse than those.

This one actually smells decent...like a non descript perfume-y smell.  Surprisingly, it lasts long too!  It's already been 6 hours and I can still smell it.

Maybe I will wear it on those days I don't want to waste my good perfume...I am a bit wary though, since it was made in China.  Who knows what's actually in it, even though the ingredient list is shockingly short.

I did have a real Betsey Johnson perfume, but I wasn't impressed at all.  It smelled cheap and nasty too, though it was a bit stronger than this one.

Monster High - Harpy girl create a monster add on:  $3.94 (RSP:  $16.99)
Monster High - Dot Dead Gorgeous Lagoona:  $7.94 (RSP:  $29.99)

Both @ Superstore

Today they were having a 25% off sale, so I wanted to see what was included.  Nothing was that cheap, so I ended up hitting the clearance section again.

I already have both of these dolls, but I couldn't resist!  I really love the harpy girl's wings, I want to paint these ones silver or gold.  Her feather boots are awesome too!

I also saw a roller maze Operetta for only $5.94, but I left her there.  I already have her, and I'm not crazy about that one.

As for Lagoona...that's the most perfect DDG Lagoona I've ever seen!  I also thought her lip paint was lighter than the one I had, and I thought she was better than my other one in every way.

Well....when I compared they two, they looked nearly identical!

You can't even really see a difference in the pictures (new one's on the left), but you can in person.  My old one is definitely sloppier in every way.  The newer one even has sleeker hair from root to tip!

I'll probably open up the old one.  $8 is a fine price to pay for a Lagoona that detailed, and it's a hassle to return her.

I'm really kicking myself for not picking up more $5.94 CAM sets...I just realized I could use the torsos!  They're never going to come any cheaper than that.  I have 3 dolls that could use them, I didn't think about that at the time.

Coral stone necklace:  $2.25 (Highest:  $3.25)
White cascading stone necklace:  $2
Pale brown resin necklace:  $2.06 (Highest:  $3.05)
Pale black resin necklace:  $1.80 (Highest:  $3.24)

All off eBay.

That's nearly the last of my recent impulsive jewelry binge.  I really like the first one, but I probably should have passed on the others.

Anna Sui - Forbidden Affair 50 ml eau de parfum:  $32 $.84 off Amazon.ca (RSP:  $75)

I'm a big fan of Anna Sui perfumes...it was the first perfume I ever picked up!  I especially love her packaging, and this is the best one yet.

I pretty much bought it for the bottle alone....I tried the perfume in store and didn't like it that much.  Surprisingly, it smelled way better the second time around!  Maybe the first one was just too old.

This one smells really strongly of berries, but I really like it.  It's a little bit mysterious and romantic, it doesn't just smell like straight juice.

I'm really glad I bought it, because it was way better than expected.  The bottle is even more beautiful in person!

$32 is a reasonable price, that's the cheapest I've seen it anywhere!  I wouldn't have paid that much though, since I wasn't super crazy about the scent.  I only bought it because it was practically free after all of the gift cards I got from tellwut and swagbucks.

The price also doubled after I bought it, so I think I got the only one.  I'm not sure why it was so cheap to begin with, it's still $75 at sephora!

Monster High - Scaris Lagoona and Cleo 2 pack:  $29.97 @ Toysrus (RSP:  $39.99)

I've wanted this for a while...I just love everything Lagoona!  I always try to get every version of her, price willing.  I thought both of these dolls looked great, so $15 each seemed like a fair price.

Plus..it's a toys r us exclusive!  It wasn't going to get any cheaper than this.  Even though it's the average sale price for a basic, I think the details are way better than that of a basic doll.  I love Lagoona's octopus theme and all of Cleo's intricate accessories.

I actually had this shipped free to my house, toys r us has a monster high promotion every 13th, and that was it this month.  I saved almost $9, and a trip to my local store.  I wasn't sure if they had it anyway, and this was the only doll I wanted (well, that was cheap enough during this sale!).

I'm impressed...it only took 5 days for me to receive it, and I ordered it late at night on the first day!

I was pretty annoyed though.  They sent it in a box the size of a computer tower with NO padding!  Thankfully the box looks ok, but there's still some minor damage all along the sides.  I really don't get why they skimp on the protection!

Monster High - Gargoyle/vampire boy create a monster pack (RSP:  $5.94 - $32.99)
Monster High - Puma boy create a monster add on (RSP:  $3.94 - $16.99)
Monster High - Cat/witch create a monster pack (RSP:  $5.94 - $32.99)
Monster High - Harpy girl create a monster add on (RSP:  $3.94 - $16.99)

$2.13 for all @ Superstore.

I almost didn't come today...that would have been a mistake!  I wish I went even earlier for a better selection.

Anyway, I heard that superstore had these on sale, but they ended up being even cheaper at mine than posted!

I was so surprised about the two pack...$6 is unheard of!  What a crazy deal for two complete dolls.  Even better - I used my points to get everything for next to nothing!

The add ons weren't a bad price at $4 each, but don't seem as worth it compared to the other one.  They don't even have their own torso!

This was all they had left, so I bought one of each. I'm tempted to go to the others and see what they have!

I was also tempted to buy a second double pack to steal their bodies for my add ons, but it seems like a waste to have so many doubles.  Plus, I'm not too crazy about the vampire boy or the witch, so I might as well just use their bodies for them.

I was hoping for the newer packs, the gorgon/mummy one in particular.  I'd also like to find the werewolf/dragon pack, so here's hoping!

Seductions - Olive green leatherette pants (RSP:  $5 - $22.50)
Last Kiss - Leatherette peplum top (RSP:  $5 - $25)

$7.50 for both @ Sirens.

They were having a buy one get one half off sale because of the holidays.  I probably wouldn't have bought the pants otherwise, but it was a steal at $2.50!

I don't normally like obviously fake and sticky leather, but I thought these were ok.  I really like the colour.

I would have bought the other top regardless of the sale!  The last time I looked it was marked $15.  Some of them were still marked that price today, but I saw more that were $5.  I wonder if it was actually that price last time too.

Oh well, I'm glad I managed to get it on sale.  They used the best fake leather around!  It's really thick and nice quality for what it is.  I've seen it on sale for $40 online!

Photos of it on a model:

It looks even better in the back!

I love sirens!

Lace up shiny pvc gloves (black and red):  $5.86 each @ Walmart

Full price....I rarely ever pay that!  But I've been looking for gloves like this for a long time, and I thought the price was decent.  They go for $12+ online!  I've even seen this exact brand sold for over $20 in places.

Found larger stock images online, which sold me on going back to walmart and picking them up:

Sadly, they're a lot cheaper in person!  Some of the fingers are weird lengths, and they're sloppy at the tips.

They're still ok, just not as nice as they look in the picture.  I really would have preferred to get them for half price...if they are around on half price day, I'll totally be kicking myself!

Buddha print notebook:  $2
Classic pooh notebooks:  $1 each
White metal frame:  $2 (RSP:  $5+)
Cobblecreek - "I love you" bird toast stamp:  $.50 (RSP:  $6+)
The amazing pocket chair:  $3 (RSP:  $9+)

All @ Bianca Amor's

I haven't been to this place in years (nearly 4 apparently)!  I hardly ever go because they practically always have the same stock.  I saw an ad with a few things I was interested in, so I decided to drop in.

The only thing I found was the chair!  It's too big to put in your pocket, but it seemed like a convenient idea.  I actually came because they advertised skull clutches for $15, but mine didn't have any left.

It was like a jungle in there, but at least I managed to find a few other things I didn't know I needed.  I almost put back the toast stamp, but I'm glad I didn't because it ended up being half price.

The metal frame is actually a wal mart brand, and the picture is from a panago's ad.

I don't really need the notebooks, but I liked the images on them, especially the pooh ones.  I love classic pooh!  The buddha notebook is actually huge and great quality, so it was a definite steal at $2.  It'd probably be around $10 anywhere else!

Lovebird photo album:  $2 @ Dollarama

Adorable!  I've been looking for a decent album for a long time - this is it!  I wanted something cheap that had fun graphics.  This is pretty good quality for something from a dollar store.

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

I went to a fashion event at Willowbrook mall and got this goodie bag for signing up.  There's a mirror, chapstick, dark chocolate bar, and chocolate covered pretzels.  That was the first time I've had the latter and they were great!  The combination just works somehow.

The event however, wasn't how I expected at all!  I thought there was going to be a fashion show - or at least some sort of presentation - but it was literally 7 tiny info booths.  It wasn't worth going out of the way for...even though there were free mini cupcakes.

Vicky Tiel - Ethere 50 ml eau de parfum:  $12.43 @ Fragrancex

I liked the other one so much, I thought I would give this one a try.  I wasn't sure about it from the reviews, but at least it has the frosted bottle I wanted!

Well, it's something.  I'm not quite sure if I like it.  From far away it's pleasant, but up close it smells like vegetables.  I definitely don't like it at the start, but it's nice once it mellows out.

It does smell pretty 90's.  I do like it, but it's not something you'd expect to be made now!

Like her other one, it is great quality though.  Smells way more expensive than it was!

I think the reviews were right too.  This one is so strong, much stronger than the other one.  I guess the frosted bottles are more potent, even though these are both made by the same company.

Black lace necklace w/gem pendant:  $1.35 (BIN:  $4.29)
White lace/chain necklace:  $1.77 (BIN:  $4.99)
Black lace/chiffon dress:  $11.50 (Highest:  $26)
Black lace/gem necklace:  $.99 (BIN:  $4.45)

All off eBay.

I love lace, even in necklace form!  These were so gorgeous and cheap, I'm happy I came across them.

I'm also extremely happy about the dress...I was about to pay $20 for it on aliexpress, but thankfully I checked here first!

It's a knockoff of an Elie Saab dress (the charcoal lace and grosgrain long dress).  If you don't wear the underslip, it looks really similar, albeit shorter.  Beats paying $6400 for it!

Lots of great ones in this round!  I'm happiest about the panther necklace, the design is so neat.  I also love the gem/snake necklaces and the filigree ones, especially since I got the latter for dirt cheap.  Hurray!

I've always had a thing for those rings, I don't know why I waited until now to get them!  Some of them are pretty disappointing mobility wise...only the turquoise one allows natural movement!  At least the rest look good.

The Silver Crane Company - "Eternal love" Victorian print book tin:  $1.99 (RSP:  ~$18)
Kurhn clone doll:  $2.99
Alabaster box with limoge print:  $2.99

All @ Value Village

I was in the area, so I just had to go!  I've been buying a lot of trinkets lately, but they've just been so good.

I couldn't snatch that tin up fast enough!  The idea is just adorable, the tin is shaped like a book.  It even has some 3D embossing that actually looks pretty impressive...they do look like real objects in the picture!  From far away anyway.

I'm a sucker for Victorian images, especially ones concerning love.  Plus, the price was super cheap.  There was no reason not to buy it!

I'm pretty sure it used to hold cookies.  I wonder what the original price was?  It was made in England in 1995.  "Probably the best tins in the world" is part of their motto!

Well, it did have some wear, but I couldn't pass it up.  There were two other ones with totally boring prints, and of course those ones were in pristine condition.  But I've never seen anything like this and I probably won't again.

The alabaster box was the first thing I picked up.  The company's name was on a sticker in cursive, but I can't make it out.  The print looks pretty from far away, but the details aren't super great.  I was undecided, but thought for $3, why not.

Same with the doll.  I thought she was a real Kurhn doll because the face paint was so pretty, but it turns out she's a knockoff.  Second time!  I wonder when I'll find a real one.  They normally go for $20, but the ones in ethnic outfits like this go for $40+.

Grey fleece robe:  $3 @ Dollarama
Celia Birtwell - Blue lullaby dove notebook:  $1 @ Winners (RSP:  $4.99 - $10)

I've wanted that fleece robe for a while, especially now that it's been colder!  I originally wanted the pink one, but I thought it would get dirty too easily.

Well, now I wish I bought it anyway!  This one just doesn't look as nice.  I'll layer them up for double the warmth, this is a really great buy.

I can't believe this was made for dollarama, it'd probably be at least $10 elsewhere!  The quality is pretty nice.  I hope they still have the other one!

I wasn't sure about the other one.  I loved the design, but it did have a lot of signs of wear!  I decided to buy it anyway, since it was only a buck.  The designs feel like they're printed on, and the cover is a kind of denim material.  The pages are lined in metallic silver, which is a nice touch.

I was also considering buying a 50 ml Kate Spade Twirl perfume, but it was regular price.  $20...while it's mostly $60+ everywhere!

I didn't buy it because there was an open body wash, and it smelled a lot like shampoo.  Plus, $20 was their regular price.

Maybe I'll get it if it's still there next time, since some of the reviews are interesting.

Black and blue lace peplum tops w/chain belts:  $2.50 each (RSP:  $12 each)

Long navy green tank dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $12)
Seduction - Long black tank dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $21)

All @ Sirens

I was originally going to buy more, but then I realized that my coupon had expired!  I considered going back another time when I had the coupon, but I didn't want to miss out.  Those tank dresses were the last ones there, and they were such a great deal!

I was kicking myself for not checking before I left, but it turns out it hadn't even been posted at that time.  They posted it right after I bought it!

I was actually going to buy similar ones on ebay for $6.25 each..I didn't think I could find them locally for even cheaper!  What are the chances of that?  I was literally going to buy them online yesterday!

Those ones would be of questionable quality, so I'm really glad I waited.  The green one's about mid calf length, while the black one is floor length.

The lace tops are the same ones I bought at urban behavior a while back.  They were $.50 more, but I regretted not buying the blue one back then, so it was ok.

These were all "2 for $x dollar" deals, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought the black lace top.  I already have so many!  I would have still bought both tank dresses though, I can't get enough of them!  They're so versatile, simple, and effortless.

The black one was actually made in the US!  It's just one s apart from their store brand, seductions.  There's a hole in the back and it has a lot more detail than the other one, which is probably why it was almost twice the price.

Vicky Tiel - Sirene gift set (100 ml body lotion, 100 ml shower gel, 100 ml eau de parfum):  $24.74 @ Fragrancex

This was a really nice surprise. I initially bought it for the beautiful bottle, which features nude women posing.  There was another perfume with the same bottle for half the price, but I bought this one because the reviews were glowing.  I thought I might really like it based on what was said.

Well, it's as good as everyone says it is! To me it smells like the perfect rose, it's very sensual and calming. It starts off a bit soapy, but at least it smells like an *expensive* soap. That part doesn't last too long though (thankfully), it quickly turns into that beautiful rose scent I know and love.

It smells very expensive, it actually reminds me of a more bearable Chanel No 5 for the first bit.
Even though this was made in the 90's, it doesn't smell dated, which is something I was worried about. It's also very unique, I don't think I've smelled another quite like it.

Lasting power was great, over 10 hours on me. I'm not sure how good the silage is. The newer one in a clear bottle is supposed to be weaker, and that's the one I received (which was in the gift set).

Strangely, the gift set is $3 less than the perfume alone!  I wonder how much stronger that one is.  This one seems pretty good as is, but I'd prefer the other one if it's even better!  The bottle is frosted, I'm not sure which one I like more:

I signed up with a new rebate place, so hopefully I'll be getting 10% back.  I used a free shipping code, so that might have disqualified me.  It was worth a shot!
