Pink cat vase:  $2.99 @ Value Village

There were no markings on it, but I could tell it was from the 50's by the style.

Looking online, it's very similar to a Lefton vase!  I thought that's what it was until I looked at the details closer.  Pretty sure it had a bowtie that was broken off...and there was an adorable matching deer:

It doesn't look that similar there, but from other angles, definitely.

The one on the right is my cat, but not my picture...that one sold for $25 on etsy, so not bad!  I think mine looks better, because it's not obvious there's a hole in the head from the front.

Framed french court picture:  $20 @ Hospice thrift store

I almost didn't come here, but I'm so glad I did!  I wasn't quite sure how to get there, and the directions were a bit confusing.  Well, when I go there it was easy to find, and it was on the way home, so I went.

Most of the store was overpriced, and I thought I saw a smaller picture for $100!  I was sure this would be expensive too, but I almost didn't bother to look.

At first I thought it said $200, but when I looked closer, I thought it said $20.00!!  Looking even closer, I was sure that was what it said.  Maybe that first picture I saw was actually only $10, but I didn't care by then.

A worker helped me get it down (and it turns out you were actually supposed to ask them every time), and she said she wasn't sure if it was ready to be sold..since some other top shelf items had a sign saying they weren't.

I thought this one was fine since there wasn't a sign in that area, but it was a nerve wracking few minutes!  Luckily it all worked out.  I just wish I knew who painted it, I can't find anything online or make out the signature:

On the back someone wrote "festival ball," but I don't think that means anything.  I wonder what the name of the piece actually is.

I love how elegant the room is.  I'd love to have one like that!  The best part was, this thing was huge!!!  31.5 x 40.5 inches, plus it's all in like new condition.  Except there's no glass, so hopefully I'l find a pane later on.

I'm still so shocked at that price!  It'd probably be $200+ from a seller or dealer, and I'd even think that $40-$50 would be a reasonable thrift store price.  Of course I'm happy I snagged it for so cheap.

Actually, the thrift stores around here have charged pretty crazy prices for pictures that size!  Over $100 at both Value Village and the Salvation army...sometimes $150+.  The latter has gotten almost as bad as the former recently, and they always have worse stuff!

It is the same size and price as the last picture I got, which was a great deal too!  Except that one was just a framed poster, this is much nicer since it's an actual print.

The thrift store even had a box of free stuff outside!  Always a nice bonus when it happens.  Actually, this is only the second time I've seen it happen.  A lot of the stuff was broken, but I came home with this:

A cute plate, wallpaper border, and ribbon.  I think they could have sold the plate, but later on I saw a sticker on the back that said it was not for food consumption..which must mean there's lead paint on there!  I probably would have left it if I noticed that before.

That's why I'm wary about buying secondhand dishes.  For one I think it's gross (unless they're clearly new), but more importantly, sometimes you're not sure it's decorative or functional.

They had a lot of baskets in the free pile, and some empty picture frames.  Those were all in pretty good condition so I don't know why they didn't try to sell them.

So this find made me extremely happy the rest of the day!!  The store is small though, so I don't know how good their turnaround is.  Moreover, it's so far away...I probably won't go there very often.

Better Homes and Gardens - Pillar sconce with mirror (3):  $3 each @ Dollarama (RSP:  ~$20)

I was so surprised to see these here!  I have found good deals at Dollarama before, but they're usually small.  This thing was HUGE!!  You could tell that it would have been a lot more at any other store...no other place would come close to $3!

I wonder if I should have bought more.  Who knows if I'll ever see them again!  They had about 8 there when I went.  I was thinking of buying 2, but I thought I'd buy 3 just in case.

Some people have paid $35 EACH for these things!!  Crazy.

This is the first time I've been to this Dollarama, and it's the best I've ever been to.  They had things I've never seen before, way pricier than most things that end up here.

Besides the Angry birds game and these pillars, I also saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures...would have been around $11 elsewhere.

A 4 piece stoneware dish/plate set...decent looking.  Only $3!  A lot of places, even other Dollaramas, charge that much for 1 or 2 pieces!  These had a leaf/apple design on them.  Very country looking, not my style, but a great deal.

I even saw a filtered water bottle...with a really good filter.  I forgot the brand, but I know I've heard of it before.  I think that bottle would have been $15-$20 somewhere else.  I was considering it, but I thought I didn't really need it..and it would have only lasted 2-3 months anyway.

I wonder if I just happened to come when they had new stock that's coming in everwhere, or if this place really is the holy grail of all Dollaramas.  I guess I'll see the next time I go to my usual locations!

Tactic - Angry Birds board game:  $3 (RSP:  ~$20)
Self adhesive lion shaped mirrors:  $2

Both @ Dollarama

I don't like angry birds, but I remember loving that game Trouble...and I noticed that this game has the exact same board!  Unsurprisingly, the instructions are the same too...so for $3, I thought why not.

I like fun shaped mirrors so the lions were a no-brainer.  I just wish they had more!  This was the only one there...I didn't even see any other types.  I wonder what else they had before.

esQue - Alfresco Sachi style square serving platter with dipping dish and spoon set (3):  $.99 @ London Drugs (RSP:  $9.99)

I was really unsure about this, since there were basically no details on the website.  For the price, I assumed it was just melamine..but I really liked the design, and thought the price was great.

It showed that there were 4 at one store in my area, and 3 at another.  Both were way out of the way, so I didn't know if I wanted to bother.

After a week, they were all still there!  So I decided to order from the one that had 4.  Low and behold, they ended up being sold out!

I was sure it would be the same case for the other one, so I just made the order on a whim.  Well, they actually did have it in stock!

But since it was so so out of the way, I thought I might just let my order expire and get a refund.  I'm glad I didn't!

Everything is actually made out of porcelain!  I thought for sure that at least the dish and spoon were made out of plastic.

The dish is pretty big and very nice quality.  A total steal for $1!  Even $10 was pretty reasonable for this.  I'm glad I got them!

Cow creamer:  $.74 @ Superstore (RSP:  $4)

I'm so happy I found this!  I've always wanted a cow creamer, but I haven't really seen them around...except used for unreasonable prices.

I looked online, and these are $10 at bed bath and beyond!  I'm pretty sure that's the average price anywhere.  I'm surprised superstore's regular price was so low...it's not the first time.  They shocked me with their $4 dog salt shakers a while back!  They're still selling them even now.

Artika - Fancy gold rim dinner plate (2):  $3 each
Artika - Fancy gold rim bowls (2):  $3 each
Bike lock:  $2

All @ Dollarama

I came to this location for the dinner plates, since I haven't seen them anywhere else!  They still had a few of these ones, but all of the smaller bowls were gone.

They did have these huge bowls though!  I haven't seen these anywhere else.  These were totally worth the $3, unlike the dinner plate.

There were a ton of them there, so I guess they just put them out.  Now I have 8 in total, 2 of each type of dish I've come across.  I wonder if I should buy more?  8 seems like a decent amount, but it's not really a complete set.

I got a free bike so I needed something cheap to lock it. Hopefully this will do the job until I find something better!

Debbie Travis paintable wallcovering - embossed floral silhouette:  $9.99 each @ Value Village

I wasn't sure about these, since I didn't know if I could even do one room with two rolls.  Plus, they were a bit more than I wanted to pay.

In the end I thought they probably retailed for way more, so I decided to get them.  I really love damask prints so it seemed worth it.

Well, it turns out they retailed for $20 each, so that's not as big of a savings as I hoped.  That was a few years ago too, I can't find them for sale anywhere!

But it's still a decent deal, since similar ones are twice the price or more.  Hopefully it looks good!

Bag of doll furniture:  $2.99
Pony hair bag:  $9.99

Both @ Value Village

I only wanted the bag for the skin.  There looked like a lot, but it ended up being smaller than I thought!  I do have enough to make a clutch, but the second side has been difficult.

The bag of furniture is so neat.  It has a bunch of pretty chairs, but I was most excited by the payphone..it just looks so realistic!

I don't know how old it is exactly, since the company is still around.  But I've seen someone pay $25 for it on eBay!  The norm is around $10, but it's crazy that someone's willing to pay that much.

I also saw this neat 80's scooter, but it didn't seem worth $3.99.  I finally found a Bratz radio car, but they wanted $14.99 for it!  Way too much, especially considering it was in bad condition.  I still have hopes of finding a good one for a decent price!

Artika - Fancy gold rim bowl (2):  $2.50 each
Artika - Fancy gold rim plate (2):  $2 each

All @ Dollarama

These are the nicest dishes I've ever seen here!  The pictures don't capture it that well, but the entire outer border has a silvery sheen to it.  Then it's outlined in gold, inside and outside.  They'd be way more anywhere else!

I'm wondering if I should buy more.  2 of each is good enough for me, but then again, it might be better to have a full set!  In case I want to entertain or something.  I'm sure I'll never find them again if I don't get them now.

I actually thought I already missed out!  I saw them at one dollarama, but didn't feel like carrying so much at the time.  I went to three more, and they were nowhere to be found!!  I was worried that they'd all be sold out, so I was happy to find them at this location.

The first location actually didn't have these plates.  They had big dinner plates for $3 each.  I actually like this size better, but I will get 2 of the bigger ones if I see them again.

They're not that practical though.  Because of the gold accents, they're not microwavable.  But still, so pretty!  I wonder how well they'll hold up.

It looks very similar to these dishes -- and those are $16.99 each!

The rest of the collection goes way up from there.  The dinner plate sized one is $35, and some other pieces are in the $200's!

Dr. Scholl's for her comfort gel insoles:  $3 (RSP:  $13.97)
Lenticular dog selfie folder:  $1.50
Wood cutout notebook:  $3

All @ Dollarama

These were mostly impulse buys, but I couldn't help it!  I just thought they were so neat.  The notebook is made out of real wood!  And the folder just cracks me up.

The insoles are still full price at walmart, but it turns out they have terrible reviews.  I tried them out and I thought they were fine though.  They're really only for high heels since they're not full length insoles.

7 garden fences:  $2 each
Pink polka dot latex gloves:  $2.50

All @ Dollarama

The fences were to make a frame for that huge mirror I got off craigslist...I wanted something fancy, and I think these will work out.  Here's hoping anyway!  I just need a big piece of wood to hold everything together.

Printed knit moto blazer (RSP:  $79.90)
Knit denim moto blazer (RSP:  $79.90)

Classic collarless bird print blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Classic city stripe blouse (RSP:  $49.90)

$19.97 for all @ Ricki's

Also this asymmetric boucle blazer for around $7:

From that same sale.  I really was unsure about the blazers, because I thought the fit might be kind of shapeless and frumpy, like a lot of their tops.  They looked so nice in the pictures though, I thought I'd try them out.

I'm glad I did!  They're surprisingly flattering.  They're cut pretty close to the body, so the silhouette is flattering.  I won't hesitate to buy more in the future!

Regal colour block blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Infinity wrap blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Paisley wrap blouse (RSP:  $49.90)

Swiss dot peony blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Zipper detail open blazer (RSP:  $89.90)

$19.96 for all @ Ricki's

They had a buy one get one free sale, and a lot of things were clearanced to $4.99!  Probably their best sale so far.

I was really excited about the blazer.  It looks so edgy and fashion forward, which seems strange for this store.  I might try to exchange it for a smaller size.

Healthy freebies from a sampling program I'm part of.  I'll have to try them and review them soon!

*edit*

I tried the chips...I wanted to like them, but they ended up being way too heavy and oily for me.  I also really disliked how small they were...they were basically crumbs!

Mickey Mouse silicone mold:  $2.46 (Highest:  $6.99)
Mini heart silicone mold:  $1.37 (Highest:  $5.50)
Robot silicone mold:  $1.29 (Highest:  $4.25)

Paw silicone mold:  $1.04 (Highest:  $5.48)
Rose silicone mold:  $1.04 (Highest:  $9.90)
Smiley face silicone mold:  $1.66 (Highest:  $6.50)

Sailor moon - gashapon compact mirror set:  $30.99
Floral halter dress:  $2.84 (Highest:  $9.73)
Hello Kitty vinyl wonder woman decal:  $.11 (BIN:  $10.95+)

Paris vinyl decal set:  $.85 (Highest:  $8.50)

All off eBay.

I really wanted that sailor moon set, even though it was way more than I wanted to pay.  Since they were mirrors, they're completely functional!  That made it worth it to me.

With the exchange rate, it was way more than I'd ever pay in person!  But that was already the cheapest one online, and there were only a few sets left...after that, all of the rest were far more.

Now, they're all cheap again!  I'm so annoyed.  I could have saved $10 if I waited!  At least they're gorgeous..I'm glad I have them, but I wish I paid a lot less.

I'm happy about the decals though.  They're really easy to use and the results look so good.  I bought the hello kitty one for my laptop, but I ended up using it on my water bottle instead.  I wonder how long it'll last.

Alphonse Mucha mirror print:  $12.99 @ Value Village

I was unsure about this, especially because I had to carry it around all day!  I really loved the expression on her face, and her style, so I had to get it.  It's 19 X 23 inches, so I thought $12.99 was an ok price for it..though I would have been happier with $10.

The print is plate 1 from "Documents Decoratifs," and it's from 1902!  I've seen his prints around, and I never thought they were that old.  They do look pretty modern, as in, people still draw that way now.

Here's a clearer view I found on the internet:

He has a ton of other mirror prints, and the prices are all over the place.  They don't seem to be too expensive though.

If I find more, I'll probably buy them.  Mirror prints are so beautiful!  I don't think I've found one before now.

I'm planning on turning this into a table.  I'm pretty sure it'll look great!  I just need to find one that's the right size.

Leather of the sea - Lilac eelskin clutch:  $4.89 @ Value Village

It was 30% off day, which was great for me since I was already going out this day.  I found so much great stuff, but this was the only thing I bought.

I only really want stuff that's like new now.  This one has some signs of wear, but not much.  The biggest problem is the fading!  The back looks completely brand new, but the front is faded in comparison.  It's really obvious when you lift up the flap, since the covered areas are still vibrant as well!

But the shade was so gorgeous, I just had to get it.  It has a neat kind of ombre effect.

I'm not sure if I'll leave it as is, or use the skin to make a skull clutch.  It'd look great either way!

I passed on a huge leather J.Crew bag for $10.50....the condition was pretty great, but not brand new.  It had a few scuffs, and it probably retailed for over $300.

The problem was the design.  It had a drawstring closure, and a magnet in the middle to hold it together.  Well, that's not enough for me!  I was worried that stuff might fall out, so I left it behind.

I also saw a Dooney and Burke crossbody for $7.  The condition was decent, but I left it behind because I think the design is kind of ugly.

I also found a gold version of this purse I already have!  I almost wanted to buy that, but it was just too used looking for me.  The gold panther was pretty scratched up and it was stained on the inside.

Plus, I'm probably going to just take the decal from my old one and put it on a good quality leather bag...so it seemed pointless to get that one too.

If it was in better condition, I probably would have gotten it.  It looked great in that colour!  But the wear would bother me up close.

I have seen them sell for online for $40 - $100 though!  Not this exact purse, but Nima purses with gold felines on them.  This is the one that sold for $100:

I'd love to find that one!  It's even better than the leopard one I have in that style.

Rico Tomaso "I Accept" framed print:  $9.99 @ Value Village

It took me a long time to decide on this.  I really liked the print...I thought it was so sweet and kitsch!  It's just that the price is WAY more than it should have been...they're usually $5 for that size.  I saw BIGGER pictures for less than this one, it just made no sense!

In the end, I decided I liked it enough to pay that price.  Even though there is a rip in the picture and the frame isn't in great condition.

Now I'm glad I did though, since it's not easy to find even online.  My picture washed it out, but here's a clearer picture I found online:

The print is from 1965 and distributed by the "Donald Art Company", but I'm not sure how old the image is.  He has some other ballerina themed art that I like:

I think the one I got was the best though.  It's so random having a ballerina and a wedding ring!

Flower scrub brush:  $2.50 @ Dollarama
Baroque shelf liner:  $2.50 @ Dollarama
Bag of toys:  $1.99 @ Value Village

I made a trip out of getting those mirrors.  It was bugging me having the brush and vase the same colour, so I decided to get another one to switch them out.  I also have an idea for that shelf liner, so I might need to buy more if it pans out.

I bought the bag of toys for that Lalaloopsy little, Trouble Dusty Trails.  I'm not really into them anymore, but they're just so cute!  I've always wanted one, and she's complete besides her accessories.  For that price, why not.

I might donate that La Dee Da doll though.  She's cute, but I don't care for her much.  I do like her heart print lips though.

Huge mirrors:  free off craiglist

I actually have four I've gotten off craigslist!  Two each from two different people.  The first two were attached to metal frames, and were probably nearly 100 pounds each!  They were SO heavy, I didn't think I could carry them.  But I was alone, and I didn't want to go there for nothing, so somehow I managed.

The first one was FILTHY too, so this one was a better experience.  No useless backings and pretty much clean.

The one in my room is 40 by 60 inches, and the other ones I've gotten were 40 X 70 and two 36 X 79 inches.  I would have liked the 40 X 70 in my room, but it broke when I was unloading it!  I'm going to have to back this one with something before I move it again.

Anyway, I'm really happy with them.  I actually got them with the idea of making mirrored furniture, but the last two are too thick to cut myself.  I think they'll just be wall mirrors.

They were worth the hassle though.  Mirrors this size cost at least $100!  I've seen some that size for $200+, but those ones had frames.

I'm going to have to make frames for these ones.  I do want to do it on the cheap, and I have some ideas.  I'll just wait and see what kind of materials I come across, I'm in no hurry.  Ideally I'd like a super fancy one like this:

But I know I could DEFINITELY make one like this (except I'd just do one border).  I've seen the tiles at dollarama!

That looks perfectly nice, but I really have my heart set on a regency style frame.  That all depends on the materials I can find though.  If I can find the right molded shapes, I'd just to have to put them together and paint it gold...it feels like it'd be easy enough.

These were all such a huge hassle to load, so I only want small mirrors from now on.  And hopefully nearby!  I do still want my own diy mirrored furniture!

Rotating six panel slat wall (2 of them):  free off Craigslist

I was so happy about this!  I have so much jewelry, the only way to display it all would be on a retail stand.  Of course I didn't ever want to pay that much, so I didn't actually expect to have one.  When I saw them nearby, and for free, I had to have them!

They actually had three, but I only had an idea for two...one for my jewelry, the other for my belts.  It turns out I only had room in the car for two anyway, so that worked out.

They were so much trouble to transport though!  I'm finding that most of the stuff on craigslist is free because it's HUGE and a total hassle to haul away.

It took a while to clean these too, but now they look great.  I've seen plain 4 panel rotating racks for $190 locally, but this one must have been more expensive.  It has a wheel at the top and more panels, I haven't been able to find it online yet.

The rack didn't come with any hooks, but I ended up buying 3 from the seller for $3 total.  It's strange that they wanted to sell them, but since the rack itself didn't cost me anything, I didn't complain.  It turns out I can buy them new for cheaper, so I'm glad I didn't buy too many there.

I just think it was meant to be.  The seller actually even lived near my old house!  I wasn't even sure if I was going to get them, since I couldn't pick them up until a day later.  She said someone else was interested too, so I didn't know if they would get there before me.  Thankfully it all worked out.

Now I just need to get about 80 hooks!  I started styling my rack already, and I think it looks pretty great right now.  It's going to be so beautiful when it's done..I'm so excited!

Weather spirits - Plaid and floral rain combat boots:  $3 each (RSP:  $25 each)

What a great deal!  I'm glad I bothered to look.  Now I wish I did every other time I was at walmart...they've had shoes this low pretty often.

I would have gladly paid $5 for these, maybe even $10, so I was super excited they were this low.

Friday, July 3, 2015

Hello Kitty sandwich maker:  $.83
Hello Kitty egg mold:  $1.67
Rilakkuma silicone mold:  $1.04 (BIN:  $3.99)

Rilakkuma head silicone mold:  $1.30 (BIN:  $3.99)
Mickey mouse cookie cutter:  $.16 (Highest:  $1.25)
Titanic silicone ice mold:  $.88 (BIN:  $4.03)
Spiralizer:  $.43 (BIN:  $3.89)

All off eBay.

Finally!  Some of these took almost two months to arrive.  It's way cheaper than buying them in stores though, so I think it's worth the wait.

Zara necklace:  $5.50 (BIN:  $14.99)
Orange crystal necklace:  $1.69 (Highest:  $4.09)
Black crystal necklace:  $2.25 (Highest:  $5.05)
Teal gem necklace:  $2.06 (Highest:  $5.50)
Lulu frost inspired necklace:  $2.30 (BIN:  $6.99)

Dylanlex inspired necklace:  $6.50 (BIN:  $18.34)
Chunky gold necklace:  $2.43
Teal flower pearl necklace:  $1.85 (BIN:  $4.08)
Sequin makeup bag:  $1.30 (Highest:  $3.99)

Snake print bodycon dress:  $4.99 (Highest:  $10.09+)

All off eBay.

That's pretty much it for jewelry!  I'm swimming in it.  I'm probably not going to buy anymore unless it really catches my eye.

I was happiest about that dylanlex inspired necklace.  It's not as big as the real one, but those are around a grand!  These are pretty nice for the price.  There are a few more I'm still trying to win.

That sequin bag was sold as a clutch, but it's way too small to be used as one.  But it is much nicer quality than I expected.  Some of the buy it now's are as low as $2.25, so I'll definitely get more later on!

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

Baroque print latex gloves:  $2.50
Flower scrub brush with stand:  $2.50
Mini suction cup shelf:  $1.25

All @ Dollarama

That flower brush is so neat!  They didn't have it the last time I went, so I'm really glad I didn't get the pig scrub brush instead.  I was going to do that today, until I saw that one!

It's twice the price, but more than twice as nice :P.  I just wish the stand was a different colour...it looks odd for everything to match like that.

It was like that for all of the colours they had...blue, pink, orange.  I normally go for pink, but I thought it would look better for the stem to be a more realistic green.  I might just spray paint it to look better, but I'm glad I made the right choice.

Or I could just buy another one and switch them, but I really don't need two.  But I've seen them online for up to $13, so it was a good deal!

Maybe I will buy another one for backup.  Then I could switch up the stands!  But all of the other brush handles don't look as good.

I don't know how long they'll be selling these though, so it feels like a good idea to snatch another one up.  I'm thinking the sunflower with the orange handle.
