Hello kitty Mon amour palette: $10 (RSP: $42)
I bought this off of Craigslist. The seller said it had only been swatches, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it.
It is 6 years old though! I thought I could just use the palette to hold other eyeshadows if it doesn't work out.
It has a mirror on the inside:
I saw that it went on sale for $21, which I might have paid if I was into makeup at the time.
Some people got it for $12!! That would totally have been worth it.

Hello kitty lot - $6 off Craigslist.
The seller said the bottle was brand new and was the only thing for sale..and that everything else was a free bonus. She kept stressing that.
I could see why after getting it! Almost everything was damaged or missing something in some way.
I'm also annoyed that the bottle was clearly used...there was still water inside!
But overall it felt like a good deal so I didn't complain. I did give away about half the items in the picture. Most of the bags, the DVD, the hair stuff, and the whistle.
The xylophone was really neat and cute so it was almost worth it for that alone.

Hello kitty toaster: $10 off Craigslist.
I never thought I'd buy a used toaster, but I really wanted it! I could only find it for $100 on amazon...I wasn't going to pay that.
I also saw a new one for $60 on Craigslist, but I didn't want to pay that much either. Ditto on the mint open one for $40.
I saw that you can still get them for $33 shipped in the US! Works out to $40 Canadian, which is still a bit steep...but I couldn't have ordered it anyway.
The one I got needs a good cleaning, and most of the text has rubbed off, but I'm fine for what I paid.
I saw there was one on Facebook for only $5, but the nose was missing. Plus, someone already bought it.
I found out there's a toy toaster too:
I prefer that design to the real one!

Lumisource - Elephant plasma lamp: $7 off Craigslist
This was new in box too! I thought it would be from the 80's or 90's, but it turns out it was made in 2006.
That surprised me...I've never seen these kind of lamps anywhere! I had to go a bit out of my way to get it, but it was worth it for how neat it is.
The company has some other cool lightning lamps, like this Buddha:
This brain:
This torso is quite nice too:
They seem to retail for around $30 each, so I got an alright deal!

Ikea Ung Drill frame: $5 (RSP: $19.99 - $39.99)
Found it on craigslist...I'm pretty sure it used to be a mirror, but mine is completely empty. If I want to use it as a frame, I'll need my own glass and backing.
I want to make it a mirror again, so I'll be on the lookout for a free one that size!
I have no idea why, but the price is so much more on the US site!! Literally twice the price, and it is the same size. I guess the price fluctuates.
On the Canadian site, the frame is $5 more than the mirror one...I don't see why.
The frame is very pretty, and way bigger than I thought. I'm happy for the price I paid! I'd even buy more if I find more this cheap.
For now, I'm planning on making a baroque wall furnishing set like this:
I'm planning on using these three pieces I found at Value Village. It's going to look great!

Chandelier: $5
8 Wall sconces: $1 each
All off craigslist. I only wanted the chandelier, but the seller decided she didn't want to split up the lot. Considering how cheap it was, I complied!
It actually ended up being a lot bigger than I thought, so I don't know if I can actually use the chandelier.
Still, it was such a great price! I'm still surprised. I've never seen any that cheap before, and they look pretty good still.
I was thinking I might use the sconces as hooks, but I'd take off all of those ugly lamp shades first. Worst comes to worst, I'll just be out $13 if I donate everything.

Ceramic elephant plant stand: $10
Got this off of Craigslist. The seller stopped replying for a long while, and suddenly contacted me out of the blue....the other elephant I was looking to buy fell through, so I was happy to get this one.
It was bigger than I expected, so that made me really happy. It's about 18 inches long and 17.5 inches tall, contrary to the 14 x 16 inches he quoted me.
This is the one I really wanted:
It's the most beautifully carved elephant stand I've seen so far! But the seller said it was only about a foot long and a foot high, which is way smaller than I thought from the picture...it looked huge there! I was intending to use it as a table, and that would have been too small.
They wanted $30, but it didn't feel worth it since it was kind of small. I took a long time to make a decision, and they ended up deciding to keep it.
I wonder if it was actually bigger than they said! They didn't have it in hand so they couldn't give me exact measurements. Now I kind of wish I bought it, or at least saw it in person...it could have been the right size!
That one was like a work of art, whereas the one I got was kind of kitschy. I am planning on painting it pink, and I do think it'll be really cute after...but I'll always wonder about that other one!
Funnily enough, I actually saw two elephant stands at Value Village today! The first time I've ever seen them secondhand. They were $25 each, and they had a London Drugs sticker on them. I didn't want to pay that much for them, plus I'd rather have a vintage one.
They kind of looked like these ones, except brown and with trunks up. Not the same sculpt, but a similar look:
It was an ok sculpt, certainly better than others I've seen....but I just didn't find it very charming. It was a lot bigger than the other ones though - nearly two feet tall both ways!

Huge mirrors: free off craiglist
I actually have four I've gotten off craigslist! Two each from two different people. The first two were attached to metal frames, and were probably nearly 100 pounds each! They were SO heavy, I didn't think I could carry them. But I was alone, and I didn't want to go there for nothing, so somehow I managed.
The first one was FILTHY too, so this one was a better experience. No useless backings and pretty much clean.
The one in my room is 40 by 60 inches, and the other ones I've gotten were 40 X 70 and two 36 X 79 inches. I would have liked the 40 X 70 in my room, but it broke when I was unloading it! I'm going to have to back this one with something before I move it again.
Anyway, I'm really happy with them. I actually got them with the idea of making mirrored furniture, but the last two are too thick to cut myself. I think they'll just be wall mirrors.
They were worth the hassle though. Mirrors this size cost at least $100! I've seen some that size for $200+, but those ones had frames.
I'm going to have to make frames for these ones. I do want to do it on the cheap, and I have some ideas. I'll just wait and see what kind of materials I come across, I'm in no hurry. Ideally I'd like a super fancy one like this:
But I know I could DEFINITELY make one like this (except I'd just do one border). I've seen the tiles at dollarama!
That looks perfectly nice, but I really have my heart set on a regency style frame. That all depends on the materials I can find though. If I can find the right molded shapes, I'd just to have to put them together and paint it gold...it feels like it'd be easy enough.
These were all such a huge hassle to load, so I only want small mirrors from now on. And hopefully nearby! I do still want my own diy mirrored furniture!

Rotating six panel slat wall (2 of them): free off Craigslist
I was so happy about this! I have so much jewelry, the only way to display it all would be on a retail stand. Of course I didn't ever want to pay that much, so I didn't actually expect to have one. When I saw them nearby, and for free, I had to have them!
They actually had three, but I only had an idea for two...one for my jewelry, the other for my belts. It turns out I only had room in the car for two anyway, so that worked out.
They were so much trouble to transport though! I'm finding that most of the stuff on craigslist is free because it's HUGE and a total hassle to haul away.
It took a while to clean these too, but now they look great. I've seen plain 4 panel rotating racks for $190 locally, but this one must have been more expensive. It has a wheel at the top and more panels, I haven't been able to find it online yet.
The rack didn't come with any hooks, but I ended up buying 3 from the seller for $3 total. It's strange that they wanted to sell them, but since the rack itself didn't cost me anything, I didn't complain. It turns out I can buy them new for cheaper, so I'm glad I didn't buy too many there.
I just think it was meant to be. The seller actually even lived near my old house! I wasn't even sure if I was going to get them, since I couldn't pick them up until a day later. She said someone else was interested too, so I didn't know if they would get there before me. Thankfully it all worked out.
Now I just need to get about 80 hooks! I started styling my rack already, and I think it looks pretty great right now. It's going to be so beautiful when it's done..I'm so excited!
