Chiffon halter maxi dress:  $11.59 (RSP:  $20+)
Leopard skull duster clutch:  $9.11  (BIN:  $24.83)
White beaded necklace:  $1.66 (BIN:  $5.99)

All off eBay.

I've been wanting that halter dress for a long time, it looked so gorgeous in the promos!  I finally found one for a cheap BIN so I jumped on it..it turned out to be even better quality than expected!  Way better than the other ones I've gotten so far.

I want it in a bunch of other colours now.  Stupidly, I did buy it in pink, but they said they moved their stock to another warehouse and they were only selling to the US.  That was just a day after I bought the other one!

I looked at their listing, and they're still selling it....for twice the price!  And they're selling worldwide.

I'm pretty annoyed about that..I wonder if I should call them on it or just leave them a neutral.

I still look out for cheap dusters I don't have.  I have a glittery leopard one, but not one like this!  It was a great price so why not.

Khaki button up dress:  $10.59 (RSP:  $15+)
Gold skull union jack clutch:  $14.29 (RSP:  $20+)
Crowned skull pink woven oval clutch:  $9.90

All off Aliexpress.

I liked the grey version of the dress so much, I wanted it in this colour too.  I was waiting for a sale though..I regretted paying what I did for the grey one, after seeing how cheap it was here.

I've wanted the union jack clutch for a while.  It's a pretty direct McQueen ripoff - this is what the original looks (the "Britannia" clutch which retails for around $1900) like:

For that one, the difference in quality is really apparent....but is it's 122 times better?  I don't think so.

I think the ripoff still looks nice enough on its own.  They're normally at least $20, so I jumped at it on this price.

The one I got was pretty disappointing though...there were scuffs everywhere, it looked so used!

Even worse, the skull bead doesn't match, I thought they mistakenly put a silver one on there!

Upon really close inspection it's actually a very pale gold, but it still looks bad since the frame is a bright gold.

I'm still happy enough though.  I really like the clutch, and I don't think it'll ever be that cheap again.  I've seen people pay twice the price I did!

The last one was a lucky find.  It's the only one I've seen anywhere, and it just happened to be a great introductory price.  They've since raised it by $10!

The shape and the skull are both unique, I haven't seen them used anywhere else!  I'm so happy I was able to get it for cheap.

Pink cat scarf:  $.99 (Highest:  $9.61)
Pink peacock scarf:  $.99 (BIN:  $5.48)
Silk handkerchief scarf:  $1.29 (Highest:  $5)

Cream skull clutch:  $4.25/$3.58/$3.65 (BIN:  $14.50)
"J.Crew" fuchsia bubble bib necklace:  $1.25 (BIN:  $6+)
"J.Crew" green gradient bubble bib necklace:  $1.29 (BIN:  $6+)

All off eBay.

I've been on a scarf kick lately....I have a ton coming.  I only had a few beforehand, so I wanted to add some fun/colourful ones to my closet.

I also bought this bubble bib for $1.66 the seller gave me a refund!:

But only because I thought it looked like this:

They sent me the wrong one..that, or the picture is completely off!  In the picture, it looks two toned.  A dark creme with pure white beads.  That's what I wanted!

I already have a completely white one, I didn't need another.  I hope they give me a refund.

I'm really happy with the green one though.  It's even prettier than I expected!  I love the faceted ones, and definitely want to get more.  I only have one other faceted one...they look so much better than the smooth ones.

Burberry - classic trench coat:  $15 @ Talize (RSP:  $1000+)

My find of the day!  I bought this on half off day, but I wanted to make sure it was real before posting.  It's authentic, just like I thought!

The person said it was probably from the 80's or 90's, but thankfully the shoulders don't reflect that. Back then they had an s at the end of their name.

I thought it was probably real because the tag was under the label...I heard about that once, and I don't think fakers do things like that.

The only problem was the lining...I thought that it ALWAYS had to match up, and mine didn't.

But since everything else looked right, plus it looked great on, I took a chance.

Also...there was another Burberry coat there, and I was sure it was real.  It was like the above, except everything lined up and there was one additional tag.

It was so plain and shapeless though!  It looked just like this one:

Even the lining was the same, which was a turnoff.  It wasn't the classic nova check, it was another plaid I found kind of ugly and dated:

I think it was $7.50, I didn't pay too much attention because I didn't like it much.  But now, I wonder if I should have got it.  It looks good belted:

And even better with an upturned collar!

Now I kind of wish I bought it, but the other one didn't have a belt.  I'm sure I could have used one I already had though.

The colour was different from the one I bought too, it was the same as these ones pictured.

Oh well, I'm sure it's gone now.  Plus, the one I did pick up is a million times better!

SWS - Cropped David Bowie tee:  $2.49 (RSP:  $12.50)
SWS - Bon Jovi tee:  $3.49 (RSP:  $12.50)
Parisian collection - Lace maxi skirt:  $3.99 (RSP:  $20)

All @ Urban Planet

I don't normally bother to shop at this store.  Things are usually ovepriced and the styles aren't very sophisticated.

I was in the area though, so I decided to check it out.  I got all of these from a $3 rack, but stupidly, none of them rang up that price!  At least one ended up being cheaper.

The regular price for those tees was surprisingly reasonable as is.  I've seen ones with the same graphics go for $25 online!

I liked the graphics, and I could always use cheap shirts.  Plus, I do like those musicians, so I wouldn't feel silly wearing them.

I was excited about the maxi skirt, I thought that was a great deal.  It's only lace at the front, it's chiffon at the back.  It even zips up!  Most of them don't have zippers, so this one's a little bit better in quality than others.

Yoko Tsuji - Red/black wool skirt suit:  $7.50
Thierry Mugler pour Clarins - Red blazer:  $7.50

Gold metal rose frame photo album:  $1.99

All @ Value Village

I had a $5 off coupon plus I was in the area...I had to go!  I wasn't expecting much, but the blazers were a nice surprise.  The red/black one is amazing, I absolutely love the design!

I just noticed that one side is missing the chains.  Boo!  Too bad.  I'll have to make some to replace it, it's a really neat accent.

The other blazer...I freaked when I saw the name.  I love Thierry Mugler!  It's been one of my dreams to find something of his at a thrift store.

It's completely unused..the extra buttons are still hanging from one of the buttonholes!  I saw another red one that was almost the same, except it had no white accents and the pockets had no flaps.  That one was used though, plus it was too small for me.

Still, they must have come from the same place.  I'm just jealous that the other one had "Mugler" on the buttons, while mine only says "Clarins."

Turns out Clarin is the company that handles Mugler's perfumes, so he designed the uniforms for their sales people.

Good enough for me!  Though I'm still holding out for a real Mugler.

Pinkie Cooper and the jet set pets - Pinkie in Paris
Pinkie Cooper and the jet set pets - Pinkie in Beverly Hills

$11.99 each @ Canadian Tire (RSP:  $19.99 each)

I heard about these dolls online and thought they were so adorable.  I was waiting for a wide release in Canada, but they only ended up at Canadian Tire...which only sells toys for Christmas!  That's not a good sign.

The only one I really wanted was sold out, sadly - Pinkie in London:

If they had her, I probably wouldn't have bought the other ones.  The dolls look to be exactly the same...I really wish they at least had some makeup variation.

The two that I did buy are exactly the same from head to toe, including the hair!  I don't like the Beverly Hills one very much (the outfit is atrocious!), but I bought her to redress.  I thought the line would be really scarce so I decided to snatch them up while I could.

I considered buying the Paris one before, but the outfit quality seemed kind of cheap, even though it looked nice enough.

The London one was perfect!  I love everything about it.  I just didn't want to pay full price for it, even though it's the exact same price in the US.

There's actually one Canadian Tire that has 5 left, so there's a good chance the London one is there.  It is really out of the way though, so I probably won't bother to go get her.  I think I'll just wait and see if there's ever a good deal on amazon.com.

Anteprima - Black silk dress:  $7.50 (9 days)
Safara USA - Red Versace-esque dress:  $4 (16 days)

Alpaca wool scarf:  $3 (7 days)
Joseph Ribkoff - Fitted red blazer:  $4 (9 days)

All @ Talize

I was unsure about the black dress...it was beautiful quality, but I didn't know how often I'd wear it.  Since I really liked the skirt portion (and I thought it was probably pretty expensive), I ended up buying it.

Turns out it's a really expensive brand that's popular in Asia.  Their skirts go for $700, so a dress like this would probably be around $1000!  It is made in Italy, which seems kind of odd for a brand that started in Hong Kong.

I was unsure about the red dress as well, but the buckles sold me.  It's a flaming sun head...reminded me of Versace so I had to have it.

I wasn't too sure about the Joseph Ribkoff either.  It looks great on - it's so fitted at the waist!  The back is exactly the same as the front, it has all of those buttons, which I thought was neat and unique.

It's just that material is really crappy.  Since I liked the design a lot and it was cheap, I decided to buy it anyway.  It was in the blazer section, but the material is way thinner than the ones normally used for those.  It's a bit thicker than a blouse though.

The scarf was a no-brainer.  So warm and only $3!  It's made in Peru and has no brand.  Similar scarves go for about $20 minimum, whereas I've seen branded ones sell for upwards of $100!

Joshar Montreal - Vintage light blue coat:  $7.50 (24 days (!))
Club Prive - Long royal blue wool coat:  $7.50 (9 days)

Both @ Talize
I already have so many coats, but I can't help it when I see a great quality coat in an exciting colour.  I don't have any blues like these, so they had to come home with me.

The lighter one is from the 60's!  It's so well made, it even looks new.  They just don't make coats like that anymore.  I can't believe it's been in the store for almost a month!  Those shoppers are just crazy!

The other one is probably from the 80's or 90's, but it's so heavy.  I thought the shoulders were interesting too, and they aren't huge like most of the other ones I've seen.

Monster High dolls:  $2 each for the clothed ones, $1.50 each for the nude ones @ Talize (7 days)

From left to right:  Sweet 1600 Frankie, Signature Frankie w/Day at the Maul outfit, Roller Maze Ghoulia, Skull Shores Lagoona, Sweet 1600 Draculaura.

Finally!  It's been a while.  I have all but one of these, but they were so cheap I couldn't resist.  It was half off day at Talize...thank goodness they include everything.  Value Village sure doesn't!

I found the Draculaura first, then the Ghoulia, then the Frankies, Lagoona last.  I was really happy about the Sweet 1600 Frankie because I've always wanted her!

They just released a cheap $12 version at Wal mart, but I couldn't find it anywhere here.  This one's even better because the original version has tinsel!

She's near complete too...she's only missing one bracelet and her purse.  She's like new!

The other ones are in great condition too.  I don't think I would have picked them up for full price though.

I can't help but feel annoyed though...this is the first time I've seen singles at Talize!  Normally they group dolls 3-4 in a pack.  They're totally capitalizing on the brand, but at least they're not as bad as VV.  I still regret paying $6 for my first nude doll!

On another note, I can't believe they were there for almost a week!  I'm glad I don't have much competition at this store.

Kinder advent calendar:  $4.99 (RSP:  $11.99 - $14.99)
642 things to write about (RSP:  $19.95)
Babushka measuring cup set:  $3 (RSP:  $9+)
Classic Pooh notebook:  $1

Well, they were all free to me since they were Christmas presents!  I picked most of them out though, which is why I knew how much they were.

I found the measuring cup set at Bianca Amor's.  I thought it was so cute and quaint, but I wish it was made out of something other than plastic.

It's actually a knockoff of this one...the face is a lot cuter, but mine's still ok.

That one's about $20, whereas I've seen mine sold online for about $12.  What I like about that one is the face is easy to make out...on mine, I can hardly tell what's supposed to be what!

It would have been a lot better if they made the face lower like on the original.

White rosette corset:  $4.85 (BIN:  $15.99)
Black lace corset:  $4.58 (BIN:  $14.55)
Black faux snakeskin skull clutch:  $5.81 (BIN:  $14.50)
Cream faux snakeskin skull clutch:  $5.81 (BIN:  $14.50)

All off eBay.
I already have too many corsets, but these were too cheap to resist.

Same with the clutches...I prefer the knuckle style ones, but thought these were worth checking out at this price.

I really wish I hadn't, because I ended up winning a bunch for half the price!  Still, $6 including shipping is a decent price for them.

Bath & Body Works - Amber Blush body lotion:  free (RSP:  $13)

It was free because they were having a promotion.  I was surprised they made it on a full size product!  Even a free travel sized item would have been generous.  All you had to do was enter a contest!

Party miniature lot:  $1.60 (Highest:  $3)
Cute miniature food lot:  $2.06 (Highest:  $5)
Miniature cake lot:  $1.66 (Highest:  $2.25)

All off eBay

All more than I usually pay, but I just thought they were so cute.  A lot of them are actually rement pieces too, so that made it more worth it to me.

Plus, I noticed that they didn't list as many, so I didn't think they'd be listing them for much sooner.  I was right!  They've haven't listed an auction in about two months now.

Large travel themed scrapbook:  $5
Ed Hardy tall shot glasses:  $1 each (RSP:  $3 - $6 each)
Cat tricks & Treats book gift set:  $1.50 (RSP:  $9+)

All @ Bianca Amor's

And all gifts for my sister!

I know Dollarama sells similar scrapbooks for $2 or $3, but I don't think they're as nice as this one.

The cat set was neat...it has a recipe book for cat food!  This is what it looks like on the inside:

I don't normally like coming here because it's really disorganized, and the stock seems to be the same all of the time.  But sometimes they have decent stuff!

Studded mesh cross dress (RSP:  $17)
Leatherette overall dress (RSP:  $24.50)

Black/white leggings (RSP:  $10)
Leatherette/fishnet leggings (RSP:  $12)

Valia - Black and beige/Black and green slitted maxi dressses (RSP:  $17 each)

Green and burgundy leatherette peplum skirts (RSP:  $16.50 each)

$20 for all @ Sirens

I love it when Sirens has deals like these!  Most of these were marked down to $2.50, which was amazing in itself.  With the coupon, it was even cheaper!

I'm planning on going back, there were some other ones I wanted, but I was maximizing the value of my coupon.

I was so surprised to see those dresses again...after I missed out last time, I didn't think I'd see them again!  I actually wonder if they're the same stock from that location...there was only one of each (like before), and they were the same sizes to boot!

I just found out that pleather dress is selling for $67 online..that's crazy! I actually think it looks better like this....the overall look doesn't seem very fashionable.

I might cut it to look just like this one.

Monster High - Home Ick Heath and Abbey 2 pack:  $19.99 (RSP:  $39.99+)
Monster High - 13 wishes Party Lounge with Spectra doll:  $22.49 (RSP:  $45+)

Both @ Target

I was so surprised that these went on clearance already...they only came out somewhat recently!  They're still full price at all of the other locations.

When I went to Target today, the Heath pack is what I really wanted.  I didn't see it when I first looked, which was disappointing...but when I was walking around, I managed to see a lone one tucked away in another section.  Score!

I was unsure about the playset.  I bought it because it functions as a speaker, which I thought was neat.  I don't really like Spectra, but I guess she's better than nothing.

Well, the playset is kind of crappy!  It's flimsy and doesn't really do much, or look that great.  It's ok for the price I paid, but retail is definitely a rip off.  I've seen it for $55 in some places!

Cleo's playset was on clearance too, for $23.74.  I was tempted, but I didn't buy it because the playset was kind of dumb, plus I thought the doll was ugly (even though I do like Cleos).

I'm hoping it'll still be around when things are 70% off..it would be a total steal at that price!

The party lounge too.  I saw a bunch of them there, so it seems somewhat likely that it'll be there for the final markdown.  Here's hoping!

Adventure time t-shirt:  $10 free @ Walmart

I used the giftcard I got from Tellwut to make it free.  Yay!  This was a present for my brother anyway.

It was regular price...which I normally don't like paying, but I knew that it was way higher everywhere else.  I've seen the exact same shirt sell for $20+ (PLUS shipping) online!

Friday, December 13, 2013

Armani - Le Collezioni  - 3 piece cream silk skirt suit:  $18 @ Talize (RSP:  $2500+)

Hooray!  I love finding Armani.  I've found so much already (including lots I passed up) that I always feel like I can find more.

It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but considering how much retail was, it's a steal!  I didn't think it would be around on half price day, so I didn't want to risk it.

It fits me perfectly!  I actually just finished something special right before so this felt like a reward.

Burberry - Plaid knapsack $4.50 @ Talize (RSP:  ~$400)

Well...that's if it's real!  I posted it on a well known forum, and they said it wasn't.  But....the quality is so wonderful, I couldn't believe it.  It even has that beautiful leather smell!

I did some research, and a lot of bags do have the same elements this one has.  But there are some worrisome details (mostly the lack of engraving on the hardware, the cut off knights, and the use of leather pulls).

Like I said though, I have seen those elements in some bags...but there's a chance those ones could have been fake.  They sure sold for high enough though!  This one has all of the elements that mine has.  This one's pretty similar, but not exactly the same.

It's just that most counterfeits don't bother to use leather (unless it's a reallllly high end brand like Chanel), and when they do, it's normally crappy quality.  This was so nicely made, I thought for sure it was real!

I did some research on the forum, and people claim that they've seen fake bags deemed as genuine and vice-versa.

So on the off chance they were wrong...for $5, why not?  It's way better quality than most of the non-descript leather bags I pick up.

A lot of the elements are right (the good quality leather, the checks matching up everywhere) so I just can't accept it without proof.

I actually returned a modern burberry coat I found a while back...it looked convincing enough to me.  I hope that one wasn't actual real!  No big loss though, the fit was very unisex and I wouldn't have given it a second thought if not for the purported brand.
