Theory - Shinna bi stretch blazer:  $6.50 (RSP:  $400)(10 days)

Bag of doll making supplies:  $2 (7 days)

They were having a half off sale, and it was on the way...even though I was super tired, I couldn't resist!

I have a ton of black blazers, but this one just looked so polished.  I had to have it!  This is the exact same one I have:

I only wanted the parts for the pose doll heads.  I'm not quite sure what bodies I'll put them on, but I'm sure I'll thrift something!

There are a ton of other vintage heads:

I don't think I'll keep any of them.

One of the pose doll heads had a $.69 sticker stuck to her hair.  I wonder if that's how much it cost?  That's so reasonable!

Lanvin blazer:  $5.99 @ Value Village

I'm so surprised!  Their regular prices usually aren't this reasonable, unless the item is in really crappy condition.  This one looks great, so I don't know why it was priced this low.

I really didn't ever expect to find this label!  Just goes to show that you never know what you'll find.

Even though the retail price was over a grand, it seems like used Lanvin doesn't have much of a resale value.  I wonder why that is!

Stone sleeveless blazer:  $4.99 (RSP:  $69.50)

Navy stripe straw tote:  $3.99 (RSP:  $39.50)

Both @ Cleo

I wanted to like the blazer, but it was so shapeless in person!  I was surprised, since I thought the size I bought might have been too tight already.

If I sized down even more, it probably would have looked good...but it's not likely for that size to come back in stock.

Too bad!  I thought it looked really nice here:

I might end up returning the tote too.  It had some scratches on the leather flap, plus some dirt that might not come off.

Knit drape front blazer:  $11.66 (RSP:  $79.90)
Plaid sweater knit bomber blazer:  $4.16 (RSP:  $69.90)
Puppy love pullover:  $4.16 (RSP:  $49.90)

Denim tencel blouse:  $4.99 (RSP:  $49.90)
Mother of pearl stretch bracelet:  $1.49 (RSP:  $18.90)
Kate trouser jean:  $4.99 (RSP:  $69.50)

All @ Ricki's

I'm only going to be keeping the dog sweater and the plaid blazer...the rest just wasn't as nice in person!

Ended up returning a lot of them, they didn't fit that nicely!

Ivory girlfriend blazer:  $4.99 (RSP:  $89.50)
Rose roll cuff blouse with cami:  $4.99 (RSP:  $59.50)
Black stripe straw tote:  $3.99 (RSP:  $39.50)

All @ Cleo

The stuff I actually kept!  I wasn't sure about the blazer...it definitely wasn't as nice as my more expensive blazers, and I have so many of those.

But I don't have one in white, and it seems unlikely to find a used one in pristine condition.

It's actually a nice cut, but I think I could have sized down for an even more fitted look.  Still, it turned out better than I expected.  It even has a pretty lining:

The blouse actually had a nice fit too!  I thought it would be kind of frumpy from the picture, but it actually looks better in person.  I like that you can roll down the sleeves, it looks much better like that.

But, I was going to keep it regardless because it's 30% silk...I never expected that from this store!  The rest is cotton, so it's a good mix.

I was going to keep the straw bag no matter what.  It has a pretty lining too:

So I'm pretty happy overall, especially since the mall had that great freebie today!

Light blush ruffle front trench coat:  $4.99 (RSP:  $139.50)
Peach jewel halter maxi dress:  $9.99 (RSP:  $119.50)
Navy 3/4 sleeve blazer:  $4.99 (RSP:  $89.50)

All @ Cleo's

I actually ended up returning all of these...too bad!  The fits were all just off for this batch.  I wish I could have gotten them in smaller sizes, because they were such great deals!

The dress actually fit fine, but I didn't like it as much as I thought.  Not for $10 anyway...I've spent less on dresses I love way more!  The jewel detail:

It looked pretty in the pictures, but I was underwhelmed in person.  I like bigger jewels, and the material of the dress wasn't much better than my cheap maxis.

Moshino stitched blazer:  $14.99 @ Value Village

I don't know what it is with this location!  I've found so many Moschino blazers here, it's uncanny. This one looks pretty modern too, and the lining has a neat print:

You can't really see it unless you zoom in, but this blazer has very defined stitches all over.  I didn't think I'd like it, but you can't really notice anything but the great tailoring when you have it on.

Printed knit moto blazer (RSP:  $79.90)
Knit denim moto blazer (RSP:  $79.90)

Classic collarless bird print blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Classic city stripe blouse (RSP:  $49.90)

$19.97 for all @ Ricki's

Also this asymmetric boucle blazer for around $7:

From that same sale.  I really was unsure about the blazers, because I thought the fit might be kind of shapeless and frumpy, like a lot of their tops.  They looked so nice in the pictures though, I thought I'd try them out.

I'm glad I did!  They're surprisingly flattering.  They're cut pretty close to the body, so the silhouette is flattering.  I won't hesitate to buy more in the future!

Regal colour block blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Infinity wrap blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Paisley wrap blouse (RSP:  $49.90)

Swiss dot peony blouse (RSP:  $49.90)
Zipper detail open blazer (RSP:  $89.90)

$19.96 for all @ Ricki's

They had a buy one get one free sale, and a lot of things were clearanced to $4.99!  Probably their best sale so far.

I was really excited about the blazer.  It looks so edgy and fashion forward, which seems strange for this store.  I might try to exchange it for a smaller size.

Zara - Velvet military blazer:  $6.50 (4 days)(RSP:  $100+)
Born - Burnished leather Lewisa boots:  $10 (5 days)(RSP:  $225)

Furreal Zambi elephant:  $2 (13 days)(RSP:  $50+)
My Scene vespa:  $1 (3 days)

All @ Talize

I almost didn't go, but I'm sort of glad I did.  I always find neat stuff!

I have so many blazers, I really don't want to buy anything that's not high end.  But that Zara one had such a flattering design, I had to get it.

The boots are such wonderful quality, and they're new!  The soles only have store wear, they definitely haven't been worn outside.

They're so comfortable too!  This is a size 11, which is bigger than I normally use, but I thought it still looked ok.

I remember seeing that elephant in stores.  I think the lowest I saw it for was around $30, which I definitely wasn't going to pay.

But it was a no-brainer for $2!  I just hope it works.

Theory - wool blazer:  $4 (RSP:  ~$375)
Tadashi - Lilac strapless tiered mermaid dress:  $9 (RSP:  ~$498)

Polly Pocket car:  $1.99

All @ Value Village

Nothing too spectacular here.  There was this really gorgeous herve leger-esque dress that I wanted (with a mermaid train), but it was too darn small!  It was half the size it was marked, which was a letdown.

I love Tadashi, but I didn't think I could wear this dress anywhere.  When I tried it on though, it was so flattering!  Really accents your curves.

Plus, I love the colour, so I ended up buying it.  I do wish it were cheaper though, since it does have a lot of dirty areas.  I think it'll be an easy wash, otherwise I probably would have left it.

I've heard a lot about Theory, but it didn't seem that impressive to me.  This is the first reasonably priced one (that looked new) I've seen in my size, so I decided to pick it up.

Thierry Mugler Couture pantsuit:  $5

Polly pocket car:  $1.99
Licca and Littlest pet shop dolls:  $1.99
Intricate cherub frame:  $2.99

All @ Value Village

Oh man, was this a good deal!  And to think, I almost stayed at home.  That would have been a mistake.

Thierry Mugler is one of my favourite designers, and it was always a dream of mine to find something of his.  I nearly jumped for joy when I saw this:

I found it minutes after entering the store!  So happy it was there for me.  I did find this blazer before, but since it wasn't really made by him (made in China, for cosmetic reps) it wasn't really the same.

Of course I'm always happy when I find LPS Blythes, so that was good too.  And Liccas, which are even rarer!  Someone had put her randomly in the collectibles section, so I'm glad I was sharp enough to spot her.

That frame is gorgeous too!  Normally they're not sculpted very well, nor are they as interesting as this one, so $3 was a steal.  I think I might spraypaint it gold, and it would look much nicer as a mirror rather than a frame.

Overall, such a great day!

Moschino jeans - Jean jacket/blazer:  $7.50 (RSP:  $500+)
Tadashi Shoji - Blue satin and beaded lace sheath dress:  $7.50 (RSP:  $422)

www.39c.com.cn - NWT Silk scarf print dress:  $7.50
Suzy Shier - Bird print dress:  $2.50

All @ Value Village.

I'm not sure how much the Moschino jeans line cost, I can't figure that out anywhere.  But I did see unlined jean jackets on their website for $200, so I think this one had to have retailed for nearer to a thousand...the quality is so nice!

Which is why I had to pick it up, even though it doesn't currently fit me.  I'll wait it out a bit and see if I lose the weight, otherwise I have a friend who could use it.

I find so much Moschino, but a lot of it is very loud.  I was surprised to find something so basic as this...it looks pretty modern too.  The tailoring is great, it just looks so normal for them.

The Tadashi dress is a bit too big, but I think it still looks ok.  I just can't pass up Tadashi, his designs are really figure flattering.

The last two...I thought that silk dress looked neat.  Like it was made from a scarf!  It was new with tags, so I thought it was worth it, even though it's a chinese brand.  The quality is fine, but not amazing.

The last dress I just bought because it was super cheap.  Well, I really liked the print, but I wouldn't buy Suzy Shier stuff otherwise.

Fake Burberry blazer:  $14.99 @ Value Village.

Obviously, I thought it could be real, otherwise I would have never bought it!  The buttons were iffy, but the rest was actually pretty nicely made...so I thought I should pick it up just in case.

I've had more fake Burberry than any other brand!  Really got to learn how to tell.

I'm hoping I can find something to exchange it with, otherwise, I'm stuck.  They have such a dumb return policy!

Worst case scenario, I keep the blazer and take out everything that says Burberry.  It really does still look nice, but I'd be sore about paying $15 for any blazer that wasn't high end.

Anyway, just leaving these pictures up for myself, and for anyone else who might find this useful.  Remember...this is fake, fake FAKE!

The forum I got it authenticated on doesn't tell you why it's fake, but I'm sure the buttons were a dead giveaway.  The r's should have defined rattails.

I also think that items like these are sized in numbers, rather than in generic sizes.  But that's just a guess on my part!

NWT Oasis ruffled sateen dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $100, at least according to this)
Emporio Armani - Wool dress:  $6.50 (RSP:  ~$1000)

NWT Jacob coral blazer:  $2(!) (RSP:  $~150)
NWT Forever 21 Bellette blazer:  $4.50 (RSP:  $33)

All from Value Village.

Finally!  It's been a while since I've seen Armani.  It doesn't look like much in the picture, but it gathers in a really beautiful way.

The rest aren't very high end, but they were so cheap for new with tag clothing!  I couldn't resist.  I've never seen new things priced so low at value village!

Bestini Paris - Wool suit:  $6.50 @ Talize (4 days)

It looked great in the store but at home, I wasn't so sure about the shoulders.  I still might return it.

Saturday, April 26, 2014

Nanette Lepore - Dietrich jacket:  $7 (RSP:  $478)
Lalaloopsy mini RC cruiser:  $1.40 (RSP:  $23+)

Both @ Value Village

I used my last pass for this!  It's over in a week, but I wasn't sure if I'd find anything higher value at that time.  I thought I might as well use it now rather than take a risk.  I normally only spend a couple of bucks on non sale days!

I can't believe I almost put this back.  It's somewhat snug in the bust, but it doesn't pucker or anything.  And the design is just so sophisticated and somewhat edgy!  I love the puffed shoulders and the pointed hemline.  I don't have any blazers like that!

Even though this is somewhat pricey, it doesn't feel super high end.  Still, the design more than makes up for that!  Turns out this is from their 2009 Fall collection.

I can't believe I had such a great day today!  I don't normally find so much designer stuff at the same time.  I even saw this Carven dress:

It retailed for $560!!  I knew it was expensive, but I didn't know how much it was because I hadn't heard of the brand before.  The materials were very substantial...the kind other brands rarely use.

It was maybe a size too big for me, but I suppose it could have still worked.  I just thought it was kind of ugly!  Even seeing it on the model, I still kind of think that.

It's just not really me.  Plus, I don't like dresses where you can't wear a bra!

I don't regret passing that up, strangely, even though it's a lot pricier than I thought (I was thinking around $200!) and I don't have many dresses in that price range.  But that $2000 dress still stings.  That's a huge difference!

Vintage lace blazer:  $3.99 @ Value Village

And this was their regular price!  That hardly ever happens.  This has a bit more wear than I normally like, but the style was so interesting, I was willing to overlook it.  Just look at the back!

I love the multicoloured lace, but the beading seems kind of tacky.  I also love the flaps at the front...this is such a unique blazer!

More than that, it's super fitted in the waist, which I love.  I think it's probably from the 60's...I see "1962" on it, but that could mean something other than the year.

Teacup piggies  - Lacey:  $1.99
Alexis - NWT Pale peach blazer:  $7.99 (RSP:  $185)

Both @ Value Village

Too bad there weren't more toys at this one!  I kind of wonder if I should have bought any teacup piggies new, I've been finding so many secondhand ones for only $2 each!  Most of them (except the light coloured ones) look unplayed with.

This one is a colour I don't have, plus it has a very cute feature...there's a heart around its eye!  And on its butt!  The price was sure right too.  I found a really exaggerated promo picture of it:

Of course, the hearts aren't as pronounced in real life.  You can't see anything in my picture, but I found this good picture on amazon:

Adorable!  I've never even seen this one before, which makes me wonder just how many pigs are out there.  I wonder if there are more with hearts around their eyes?  It's just too bad there aren't any good resources for this toy line!

The blazer was an afterthought.  It's a bit snug on me right now, but the design was just so nice.  It has slanted buttonholes!  I've never seen that before.

The fit is also very flattering, plus it was new with tags.  It's also this really gorgeous peachy white colour.  It was too unique to leave behind!  It's just that I hate paying full price.
