Rib knit asymmetric sweater - blue coral:  $4.97 (RSP:  $69.90)
Rib knit asymmetric sweater -black and white combo:  $4.97 (RSP:  $69.90)
Heart sweater with jeweled antlers:  $7.47 (RSP:  $79.90)

All @ RW & CO

I usually never shop here, but the sale was decent enough.  I also got free shipping, so I couldn't resist!  The sweaters are all a merino wool blend, so it seemed worth it.

The first two don't have a very flattering fit, but I ran out of time to return them.  I really like the last one, but I wish I paid less for it.

I actually bought these back in March.  I haven't seen anything worthwhile since!

Wide brim felt hat:  $1.50 (RSP:  $12.99)
"Good vibes" polka dot paddle brush:  $.68 (RSP:  $5.99)
Quilted combat boots:  $4.60 (RSP:  $39.99)

All @ Stitches

I never go here.  I'm so glad I did today!  They had a very tiny section that was 80% off, but I managed to find some gems.

Those combat boots in particular.  They just looked so cool!  I found pictures off Urban planet's website:

They only had one pair there, and it just happened to be my size.  Score!

They have these subtle burgundy patches everywhere.  It reminded me of something out of a video game.  They have the hat at Urban Planet too:

They had one in red that I was considering, but I thought I'd use the black more.  Plus, I didn't want to go too much over $10 so I could get the best value.

It looked like this, except  it didn't have a buckle....I preferred the buckle, which is another reason it was easy to pass up.

They also had these fedoras in several colours:

But I didn't think it looked that great on.  Plus, a wide brim provides way more sun protection.

They had a few other paddle brushes, but I wasn't too crazy about the designs.  It was such a great price though, I had to pick one of them up.  It is lower quality than the one I got at dollarama though!

It actually turns out they did carry the rhinestone/pearl brush I got from there..it would only be $1.20 now!  That's less than half the price I paid.

Theory - wool blazer:  $4 (RSP:  ~$375)
Tadashi - Lilac strapless tiered mermaid dress:  $9 (RSP:  ~$498)

Polly Pocket car:  $1.99

All @ Value Village

Nothing too spectacular here.  There was this really gorgeous herve leger-esque dress that I wanted (with a mermaid train), but it was too darn small!  It was half the size it was marked, which was a letdown.

I love Tadashi, but I didn't think I could wear this dress anywhere.  When I tried it on though, it was so flattering!  Really accents your curves.

Plus, I love the colour, so I ended up buying it.  I do wish it were cheaper though, since it does have a lot of dirty areas.  I think it'll be an easy wash, otherwise I probably would have left it.

I've heard a lot about Theory, but it didn't seem that impressive to me.  This is the first reasonably priced one (that looked new) I've seen in my size, so I decided to pick it up.

Bestini Paris - Wool suit:  $6.50 @ Talize (4 days)

It looked great in the store but at home, I wasn't so sure about the shoulders.  I still might return it.

Hettemarks of Sweden - Red wool coat:  $11.25
Eelskin purse:  $4.50

Both @ Value Village

I had another coupon, so I hit up another store.  I'm always on the lookout for great quality coats, and this one fits the bill!  The tailoring is impeccable.

I'm sure it's from the 60's, and it still looks new today!  The style is timeless.  I'm sure I could wear this forever, assuming it fits me for that length of time.

Two people complimented me when I was trying it on!  The only problem is, it sort of has a chest compressing effect when I'm wearing it.  But the silhouette is really gorgeous otherwise, and you can tell it's quality right away.

The company's actually still around!  They even have a website, but stupidly, they don't have any prices listed.  Which usually means they're expensive.  I looked around, and found some newer ones listed at around $500!  They've been around since 1944...that's longevity!

As for the purse, I actually bought it for the skin.  That's over my price limit for purses I just want to cut up, but this one's a lot bigger than the ones I normally find.

I ended up just cutting up the one I already have.  I think I'll just use this purse instead...it's a lot roomier than the other eelskin purses I normally find, and the design is better too.

Evan Picone - Long black wool coat:  $9 (RSP:  ~$300)
Bebe - Contrast coated scuba moto:  $6.50 (RSP:  $129)

Joe Fresh - NWT Wool/mohair sweater dress:  $5 (RSP:  $69)
6 Shore Road -  NWT Silk shirt dress:  $7.50 (RSP:  $100+)
Katie - Pink polka dot halter dress:  $5

All @ Value Village

I almost didn't go, but I'm glad I did.  I almost always find great stuff, and this was no exception!

I was pretty annoyed at the prices though.  This is one of the worst ones I've seen!  They had a lot of USED dresses for $20...which is crazy.  At least the other ones reserve those prices for NWT stuff!

Which makes me really surprised that the Joe Fresh dress was so cheap.  It was extra small, so I didn't think it would fit...but thankfully, I tried it on and it did!  It wasn't even too tight, it was like magic.

The 6 Shore road dress is missing 3 buttons, which means I'll have to replace all of them.  But the style is so gorgeous I thought it was worth the effort.

I wasn't sure about the last one, but since I'm a sucker for halters it had to come with me.

The coats...I'm sure the bebe one was new, because there were three of them, and all of the labels were cut off!  They all had slight staining to the sleeves, so I think they were probably donated by the company.

They were all marked a large, and they certainly looked the same size...but two of them were actually extra small!!  Thankfully, one was a medium, and that one fit.  But really, looking at the rack they all looked the same size!

Bebe stuff is normally super pricy even used, so I kind of thought the prices were sort of up there.  I do think they have a lot of interesting styles.

I was surprised to learn that the jacket only retailed for $129!  I guess they price things so high secondhand because there's a demand for it.

I was happy about the black coat, since I've been looking for a long, warm, fitted one for a long time.  The outside looks new, but there are a lot of tears in the lining that I'll have to repair.  Considering how great it looks on, I thought it was worth the effort!

Kathie Lee for Plaza South - Nautical dress/long coat:  $3.50
Avon fashions - NWT Quilted shoulder trench coat:  $5
Lucia Roma - Red/white wool blazer:  $3

EJM ltd - NWT Turquoise belted dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $69.95)
EJM ltd - NWT red/plaid dress:  $3.50
Kathie Lee for Plaza South - Embroidered red dress:  $3.50

All @ Value Village

I had an insane day today!!  It was like something from a dream....I found 100 NEW WITH tag vintage dresses here!!  Almost all the kind I like the best too -- shirt dresses!  I literally spent 3 and a half hours trying stuff on here...I remember having at least 50 of them in my cart!

It was a huge headache, and I ended up being really picky since things were adding up fast.  I'm sure I would have bought more if I found these at other times!

Some of these didn't have tags, but I was sure they were new because I've never seen these brands before...and there were a ton of other ones (of that name) with tags on.

Some of them still had store tags on - Nando Jackson!  A department store in the US that's still around today.  I wonder how they ended up here?

I think all of the ones in this post were from the early 90's, but they did have stuff from down to the 70's as well!

Sears - Vintage grey wool capelet coat:  $10 (10 days)
Sassoon Paris-Taiwan - Navy wool blazer w/burgundy cord trim:  $5 (14 days)

Vintage gold metal hard case rhinestone purse:  $5.40 (7 days)

All @ Talize

This was only a two tag sale, but I couldn't help myself.  I almost always find something great when I come here, and this day was no exception!

I'm so glad I tried on that coat.  I thought it looked great, but I already have a grey coat that's about the same length.

This had a cool removable cape, so that clinched it.  I've always wanted a coat like this!  It's even heavier than my other grey one and the quality is wonderful.

It's from sears...which normally doesn't have anything good.  But this is from either the 50's or 60's, a time where quality was pretty much uniformly good everywhere!

I wasn't that sure about the blazer, but it was such great quality.  I really liked the princes sleeves and the cord trim.

The purse was pretty much full price, I just used my student discount.  But I'm such a sucker for those purses, I always want more!  This one is the prettiest yet.

These purses are pretty expensive online anyway.  I've seen them go for $100+!

Berkertex Mayfair -  Mod yellow wool dress:  $4
Frank R Jelleff - Fitted cropped black coat:  $4

Both @ Value Village

And both totally vintage, probably from the 60's.  The second one's so fitted, I just had to pick it up...I just love the tag:

The other one was such a great colour and it looked unworn.  So much vintage stuff today!

Evan Picone - Tweed skirt suit
Calvin Klein - NWT Black gathered pleat sleeveless top (RSP:  $65+)

H&M - Grey wool knit jacket (RSP:  $129)

All free for me because it's a perk of a program I'm in right now.  Sadly, I ruined the coat by washing it.  Oh well, at least I'll have this picture to remember it by!

Found a photo of the suit:

It's not as fitted as I'd like, but it was a lot nicer on than I expected.

Purple beaded dress:  $5
Milly of New York - Pink silk/wool dress:  $5.50 (RSP:  $400+)

1960's Lily Pullitzer dress:  $5

All @ Value Village

I went out of my way to get to this location and didn't have much time to look.  I'm glad I went though...the other sections were a bust, but I made out in this section!

The Milly dress is what caught my eye.  I love pink, and the design was so pretty and classic.  I thought the purple one was gorgeous too, and I suspected it might be silk...there's no tag, so I can't be completely sure about that.

I wasn't super crazy about the last dress, but it's from the 60's..it's practically a collector's item!  I bought it on a whim.  I might sell it, we'll see if I warm up to it.

Dior - Teal cropped wool jacket:  $9 (RSP:  $1000+)
Bag of dolls:  $2.99

Gordon Dress - Vintage floor length chiffon dress:  $4
Herbert Grossman designed by Cynthia Sobel - Yellow suit:  $5 (RSP:  $300)

All @ Value Village

This one was a winner too!  I was so happy to find the Dior.  It looks even better on, plus the colour is so unique.  It's a teal, not like the picture at all.

I bought the bag of dolls for the two vintage ones up front.  One's a naked Liddle kiddle, the other one is a hard pink sleep eye doll.  I was unsure about it, but decided to throw it in at the end.

The chiffon dress is gorgeous in person!  It's a light blue/purple colour.  I didn't realize it at first, but it has union tags so it's pretty old.

The other suit looked unworn, it was well made, and I loved the colour.  The price was pretty great for what it was.  Turns out it's a brand that was sold at Sak's.

Levere of London - Long grey belted wool coat:  $9
Pearl and lace button up blouse:  $3

Both @ Value Village.

I was really unsure of the coat, since I already have so many....but this is such wonderful quality!  The coat is so thick and structured, plus it's warm and pretty flattering.

I'm sad to see that there's no info about them on the internet, I would have thought there'd be something considering how well it's made!

Blouse detailing:

No maker label.  I love the pearl buttons.

Bebe - Cropped blazer:  $7.50 (RSP:  $120+) (6 days)
Julie-Nicole - White sleeveless blazer:  $3.50 (20 days)

Badak Italy - Red wool blazer with navy cut out trim:  $5 (3 days)
Jean Paul Gaultier -  Blue blazer:  $6.50 (RSP:  $1000+) (19 days)

All @ Talize.

It was half price day, so I just had to go!  I wasn't sure if I could since I was having car problems...I didn't even go to Value Village yesterday!

Anyway, I just had to make it to this sale.  They always have such great stuff!

I was so surprised when I found the Gaultier:

I actually almost didn't get it.  It's pretty plain....but how can you say no to Gaultier that fits you??

The bebe blazer was honestly the best one of the lot though.  It has so many gorgeous details that the camera didn't pick up!  It looked new too, but $7.50 was a bit pricey for it.  I'm itching for actual thrift store prices, I hope some of the other stores step it up soon!

Saturday, June 15, 2013

Vintage suede purse:  $7.80
Celine - Wool trench style coat:  $18 (RSP:  $3200+!)

Both @ Sisters

I almost didn't go in!  That would have been a huge mistake.  Everything was 40% off so I decided to take a look.

The coat caught my eye right away, but it was a little more than I wanted to pay.  I had no hesitations once I tried it on though...it fits like a dream!  Like it was made for me.

Definitely one of my best finds ever, I'm so happy!  I don't think it's very old, the label and fit are definitely modern.

I ended up buying this too, since I was interested in it last time.  I just love the classic style, and it looked new.

It was great quality too...it's even suede on the inside!  I'm not exactly sure if it's suede on the outside, since it's not like any other suede I've felt.  It's definitely some kind of leather though.

Christian Dior - Brown wool blazer:  $8 @ MCC Thrift shop

It was way more than I wanted to pay.  I actually left without buying it, only to come back hours later (after returning home!!).

There's a half off sale in ten days, so I thought I'd buy it then if it was still there.

Well...I was thinking about it the whole time, and I felt like I'd be upset if I missed out on it.  So, back I went...there was something else I wanted to get (but that ended up being a bust).

I probably would have risked it if the hemline wasn't so unique...it's pleated and it falls in a diamond shape.  None of my other ones look like that!

Monday, May 13, 2013

Mondi - Wool military blazer:  $3
Kar Mei - Burgundy/white sleeveless blouse:  $2.50
Black fish scale belt with gold buckle:  $2.50

All @ Value Village

The blazer was the only thing I was sure about, what a great deal!  Most of them were around $13, so I was surprised to see this one so low.

I was really unsure about the blouse.  It's some Japanese brand I've never heard of...it's not even silk!

In the end, I bought it because I really liked it, and it looks really modern.  Plus, it was cheap enough...I definitely wouldn't have paid any more than that.  Those ugly flowers have got to go though.

The belt:

At first I put it back, but then it just grew on me!  I love fish scale belts, and I don't have any in this colour.  This one was in perfect condition!
