Landes - Pink calf hair skinny belt:  $2.09 (RSP:  $20+)
Blythe + Polly car:  $1.99

Both @ Value Village

They had a 30% off sale today...seems kind of cheap for boxing day!  I think it should have been half off, but I came anyway.

I was so happy when I found that belt.  The buckle is a beautiful rose gold colour, and of course I love pale pink!  The fact that it's real calf hair made it even better...and the price made it the best!  I would have paid their asking price of $3, no question.

It's even new with tags from Army & Navy!  I didn't know they ever carried anything that good.

I haven't found a LPS blythe in a looong time, so I was really happy to see her today.  She even has a complete outfit, most of the ones I find are nude.

She's Totally Talented Blythe wearing Prettiest in Pink's dress:

Too bad she wasn't there too!  But her dress is way better than Totally Talented's outfit:

I do like her shoes though, so I'm glad she had them!

NWT Oasis ruffled sateen dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $100, at least according to this)
Emporio Armani - Wool dress:  $6.50 (RSP:  ~$1000)

NWT Jacob coral blazer:  $2(!) (RSP:  $~150)
NWT Forever 21 Bellette blazer:  $4.50 (RSP:  $33)

All from Value Village.

Finally!  It's been a while since I've seen Armani.  It doesn't look like much in the picture, but it gathers in a really beautiful way.

The rest aren't very high end, but they were so cheap for new with tag clothing!  I couldn't resist.  I've never seen new things priced so low at value village!

Teacup piggies  - Lacey:  $1.99
Alexis - NWT Pale peach blazer:  $7.99 (RSP:  $185)

Both @ Value Village

Too bad there weren't more toys at this one!  I kind of wonder if I should have bought any teacup piggies new, I've been finding so many secondhand ones for only $2 each!  Most of them (except the light coloured ones) look unplayed with.

This one is a colour I don't have, plus it has a very cute feature...there's a heart around its eye!  And on its butt!  The price was sure right too.  I found a really exaggerated promo picture of it:

Of course, the hearts aren't as pronounced in real life.  You can't see anything in my picture, but I found this good picture on amazon:

Adorable!  I've never even seen this one before, which makes me wonder just how many pigs are out there.  I wonder if there are more with hearts around their eyes?  It's just too bad there aren't any good resources for this toy line!

The blazer was an afterthought.  It's a bit snug on me right now, but the design was just so nice.  It has slanted buttonholes!  I've never seen that before.

The fit is also very flattering, plus it was new with tags.  It's also this really gorgeous peachy white colour.  It was too unique to leave behind!  It's just that I hate paying full price.

Pearlescent lucite/acrylic clutch:  $4.99
Le Chateau - NWT Rhinestone square clutch:  $1.99 (RSP:  $39.99)

Both @ Value Village

I always find such great stuff here!  I have a theory that it's because no fashionistas come to this location.  It is pretty out of the way and in a small city.

Oh well, more for me!  I was so happy to find the plastic clutch, I always buy them when I see them.  I just think they're so beautiful, and they've been making a comeback lately!  Jimmy Choo has been making very similar ones for $600!

I was so surprised their regular price was so reasonable, especially since it looks unused!  Most of the time they're around $10, which I would still gladly pay for these kind of purses.  Of course, I'm happiest paying around the price I did!

I probably wouldn't have picked up the other one if it wasn't so cheap or new with tags.  I was totally surprised it was that low, you rarely see that!

I wish this place wasn't so out of the way.  I'm sure I'd be finding gems regularly there!  This is where I found my awesome leopard purse, which is still one of my favourite finds ever!

Evan Picone - Long black wool coat:  $9 (RSP:  ~$300)
Bebe - Contrast coated scuba moto:  $6.50 (RSP:  $129)

Joe Fresh - NWT Wool/mohair sweater dress:  $5 (RSP:  $69)
6 Shore Road -  NWT Silk shirt dress:  $7.50 (RSP:  $100+)
Katie - Pink polka dot halter dress:  $5

All @ Value Village

I almost didn't go, but I'm glad I did.  I almost always find great stuff, and this was no exception!

I was pretty annoyed at the prices though.  This is one of the worst ones I've seen!  They had a lot of USED dresses for $20...which is crazy.  At least the other ones reserve those prices for NWT stuff!

Which makes me really surprised that the Joe Fresh dress was so cheap.  It was extra small, so I didn't think it would fit...but thankfully, I tried it on and it did!  It wasn't even too tight, it was like magic.

The 6 Shore road dress is missing 3 buttons, which means I'll have to replace all of them.  But the style is so gorgeous I thought it was worth the effort.

I wasn't sure about the last one, but since I'm a sucker for halters it had to come with me.

The coats...I'm sure the bebe one was new, because there were three of them, and all of the labels were cut off!  They all had slight staining to the sleeves, so I think they were probably donated by the company.

They were all marked a large, and they certainly looked the same size...but two of them were actually extra small!!  Thankfully, one was a medium, and that one fit.  But really, looking at the rack they all looked the same size!

Bebe stuff is normally super pricy even used, so I kind of thought the prices were sort of up there.  I do think they have a lot of interesting styles.

I was surprised to learn that the jacket only retailed for $129!  I guess they price things so high secondhand because there's a demand for it.

I was happy about the black coat, since I've been looking for a long, warm, fitted one for a long time.  The outside looks new, but there are a lot of tears in the lining that I'll have to repair.  Considering how great it looks on, I thought it was worth the effort!

Leslie Belle - NWT Belted leopard print dress:  $3.50
Nancy II - NWT Colour block shirt dress:  $3.50
Carolina Maid - Pink polka dot belted shirt dress:  $3.50

Nancy II - NWT Floral print shirt dress:  $2.50
EJM ltd - Red/black shirt dress:  $3.50
EJM ltd - NWT Red/plaid shirt dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $79.95)

Carolina Maid - NWT plaid shirt dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $24.95)
Carolina Maid - NWT plaid shirt dress:  $3.50
Leslie Fay - Black plaid shirt dress:  $2.50

All @ Value Village

The last part of my haul!  The black plaid dress wasn't new with tags, but since it was so cheap and I liked the material, I had to get it.

I'm happiest with the plaids.  Even though those ones were made in the 70's, they still look so modern!  They had a ton of short sleeve plaid ones, but those looked horrible...the sleeves were so huge and boxy!

It was a great day though.  That's never happened to me before, and I'm sure I'll remember it forever!

A lot of these dresses came with belts too, so it was even more of a steal!

Kathie Lee for Plaza South - Nautical dress/long coat:  $3.50
Avon fashions - NWT Quilted shoulder trench coat:  $5
Lucia Roma - Red/white wool blazer:  $3

EJM ltd - NWT Turquoise belted dress:  $3.50 (RSP:  $69.95)
EJM ltd - NWT red/plaid dress:  $3.50
Kathie Lee for Plaza South - Embroidered red dress:  $3.50

All @ Value Village

I had an insane day today!!  It was like something from a dream....I found 100 NEW WITH tag vintage dresses here!!  Almost all the kind I like the best too -- shirt dresses!  I literally spent 3 and a half hours trying stuff on here...I remember having at least 50 of them in my cart!

It was a huge headache, and I ended up being really picky since things were adding up fast.  I'm sure I would have bought more if I found these at other times!

Some of these didn't have tags, but I was sure they were new because I've never seen these brands before...and there were a ton of other ones (of that name) with tags on.

Some of them still had store tags on - Nando Jackson!  A department store in the US that's still around today.  I wonder how they ended up here?

I think all of the ones in this post were from the early 90's, but they did have stuff from down to the 70's as well!

Gilmour - Brown dress (RP:  $8.99)
Genetamant - Ruched crochet neckline blouse (RP:  $6.99)
Simply Irresistible - NWT Grey top w/beaded detailing (RP:  $6.99 - $14.99 - $30)

$2 each @ Salvation Army.

This one was pretty disappointing, but I'm still glad I went.  The stuff above was decent.  Nothing exciting, but things I could wear everyday.

I almost didn't buy the beaded one...it didn't look very exciting on the rack, but it's gorgeous on!  It comes to a V shape at the front and back.  I don't have any tops like that!  It still has the winners tags on it.

This store just opened up recently, and I think they were still selling items from before the move -- all of the tags are from September!

Spread your wings - Blue rose print maxi dress:  $3.50
Vicky Tiel - NWT Flutter sleeve wrap dress in ocean:  $6.50 (RSP:  $79.90)

Cache - contour collection - Fitted black dress with ruffled sleeveline and mandarin collar:  $6.50 (RSP:  $200+)
Morell Maxie - Ruched silk dress: $ 6.50 (RSP:  $320+)

All @ Value Village

I can't resist half off days!  Thankfully there was still something there for me, even though I ended up going late in the afternoon.  I kind of wish I had time to go to some other ones, but at least I found these gems.

The maxi dress was the first thing I found.  I'm just a sucker for maxi dresses, plus I thought the print was pretty neat.  I also liked the high collar, and the price was great (for Value Village at least!).  It looked new and it was made in the USA, so it probably retailed for around $100.

I found a pink version on eBay...they wanted $22 for it used, but it didn't sell.  The pink version is pretty cute, I would have picked it up too!  I even prefer it a little.

The second dress I picked up was the Vicky Tiel.  I actually saw it the week before, but it wasn't a must have because the style wasn't unique.  I didn't notice it was new with tags back then, otherwise I would have been tempted to buy it!

I really like her perfumes, which is one reason I wanted it.  But the clincher is, it looks wonderful on!  She has so many good reviews.  It was made for the shopping network...too bad, I thought it might have been something higher end than that!

Bodycon dresses aren't flattering on me, but I couldn't help but pick this cache one up.  It's so well made!  It's fitted everywhere, even though it wasn't necessary since it was so form fitting and stretchy.  The details are beautiful...I love the sleeves and the collar.  I don't see dresses like this all of the time, it was worth adding to my closet!

The silk one...well, I can't pass up beautiful silk.  The design is gorgeous, but I wish it was another colour.  Black just seems so plain...you can hardly make out the details on a dress like this due to the colour!

Ricki's - NWT olive green asymmetrical skirt (RP:  $7.99 - $40+)
Danier - Black floral satin skirt (RP:  $6.99 - $50+)

Denver Hayes - NWT Forest green jeans (RP:  $12.99 - $49.99)
Danier - Snake print leather pants (RP:  $24.99 - $150+)
Black high waisted leather pants (RP:  $10.99)

$1 each @ Kim's Village

I didn't expect to buy so many bottoms!  I normally don't since I don't like trying them on, and you really have to for these.

Well, I ended up doing that.  I need more pants!

The Danier pants are a little too small for me, but I figured I could use the leather for something else if I can't wear it.

I really didn't think the other leather pants would look good..they looked so dated!  But the waist looked interesting, so I decided to try it on.

I'm glad I did!  This is a total gem, it looks amazing on.  I was worried it'd be baggy, but it's pretty much skintight.  The high waist looks awesome, especially with the criss cross detailing on the band.

I actually saw a ton of Danier leather stuff, at least 6 pieces.  Most of them were suede pants though, I hate suede!  It's too bad, some of them had really nice designs.

Well, they were also too small, so I wasn't tempted in the least.  I wonder if they were donated by the company, they didn't look used!

Jessica - NWT Navy skirt with gold buckle and white piping:  $2.50 (RSP:  $40+)
Simply Vera by Vera Wang - Charmeuse colourblock top:  $2 (RSP:  $40+)

Da Vinci - NWT floor length chiffon dress in celedon - style 9092:  $5 (RSP:  $135+)

All @ MCC Thrift shop.

I actually bought these last Friday.  I originally came for the dress...I saw it two days before the sale, but thought I might as well wait for it to be half off.

I'm so glad it was still there!  It's so gorgeous on, I would have been sad if I missed out.  $10 would have been a steal anyway, considering it's new with tags.  I looked at their website, and I think this one was actually the best colour.

I'm actually surprised it retailed for so cheap.  The quality is really nice!  It looks way better than in the picture.

The other things were an afterthought.  I liked the style of the Jessica skirt, but since it's a mall brand I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't new.

Found a stock picture of the top:

I liked  the colourblocking, thought that was pretty unique.

Asymmetrical hem chiffon sequin and dress:  $7.50 (10 days)
Joseph Ribkoff - Ribbed Versace-esque military dress:  $6.50 (6 days)

UK2LA - NWT Ruffled cream chiffon dress:  $7.50 (13 days)
Quilted silver leather purse:  $2 (6 days)

A non flash picture so you can see the dress details better:

All @ Talize

The first two dresses were no-brainers!  I was so excited when I found them.  The sequin one looks like a figure skating dress, I love the asymmetrical hem!  There are no tags anywhere, so I wonder if someone made this.  I have nothing else like this, so I was really glad to find it.

Ditto on the Ribkoff dress.  There's a reason I always look out for that brand!  This is the best dress yet, it's so awesome!  It reminds me of Versace, it's studded and has lion head buttons.  It looks like it's never been worn!

The same dress actually sold for $120 here!  Crazy.

I wasn't sure about the last one.  I do like the style, but I already have so many similar ones now.  It still had the tags on, otherwise I would have left it for sure.

I almost didn't pick up the silver purse.  It is real leather, and it was so cheap!  It looked unused.  I used to be really big on the style, but I wasn't super keen on it today.

I thought I might regret leaving it behind though, so I picked it up anyway.

Armani collezioni - houndstooth jacket:  $6.50 (RSP:  $1000+!)
Black rabbit fur coat:  $10

Banana Republic - Silk V-Neck dress (in 'willow grey'):  $6.50 (RSP:  $150)
Principles - NWT Intricate vintage floral blouse:  $5

Italian alabaster rose box:  $2
1965 frosted glass Snoopy box:  $2.50
Silver metal fish scale belt:  $2

All @ Talize.

Finally!  I can't remember when they had a half off sale...it's been a while.  I've been going through withdrawl, VV didn't have one last month!

The Armani was a no brainer.  This one actually felt like good quality, opposed to the first one I bought.  The fit is great, and I like the open sleeve detailing.  Some of their jackets are $3000, so I know this was at least $1K.

The dress....I'm always looking for nice silk!  It had a few problem areas (minor, a little pilling on the shoulders), but I really liked the design.  It's pretty good overall, so I bought it.

Turns out it's from 2010, and it retailed for $150!

I wasn't so sure about the blouse.  I think it's pretty to look at, but not so much to wear.  I think it might look great with some alterations, I really like the intricate floral detailing.

The clincher:  it's new with tags!  It's got to be at least 20 years old, so that's impressive.

The boxes were an afterthought.  They were cute and cheap so I bought them.

The belt I have in gold already, so I thought I needed a silver one too.  I do need to cut off some snags though.

I was also considering these real snakeskin boots:

They look so good....in pictures and from a decent distance.  Up close, they just looked so used!

I really liked them, but I didn't think they were worth $10...they were really worn, dirty, and yellowing.

I thought they might clean up ok, but it would have taken a lot of work...and I don't know how much they could really be improved.

I'm holding out for one in better condition.  I hope they come soon!  I've seen snakeskin boots before, but this is the first time they've been in my size.

Zara - brown silk halter top w/rosette detailing:  $10 (RSP:  $100+)
XSYD - NWT purple chiffon top w/pearl and lace detailing:  $4

All @ Talize.

I really didn't want to pay that much for the dress, but it's that flattering, flowing, halter style that I love.  Plus, it's silk and an expensive brand...I decided it was worth it in the end.

I was unsure about the other top.  I really don't like the colour that much.  I like the style, but it could go either way since I didn't try it on.

Since it was new with tags, I decided to get it.  I hope that wasn't a mistake!

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Petite by Michael Phillips - blue military blazer:  $5.99

Marciano - NWT pink mist blazer:  $17.99 (RSP:  $200)

Both @ Value Village.

I don't know why I came here.  I knew I would be aghast at their prices, especially after the steals I got at Sally ann!

Well, I do know why I came - because it was only a block away.  And I'm glad I did.

The blue blazer is AMAZING!  It's probably one of my favourite finds of all time.  The cutouts along the arms accented with gold buckles are so cool, as are the ribbon connections at the front.

As always though, those shoulder pads have got to go.

I was unsure about the last one, but I liked the style as well.  I knew it was by Guess, even though it didn't say that anywhere.  It is on the new ones.

Apparently, it's their 'runway inspired' collection.  The quality was wonderful, the fit was flattering, and I thought the design was unique - it's just that colour I didn't like!  Plus the price.

I ended up buying it anyway, thinking I might return it later one.  Still more than what I wanted to pay, but I suppose it's worth it for the style and quality.

It's also partly made with a fabric I've never heard of (modal!).

Of course, I would have never paid that price if it weren't new with tags.
